POA Use Idol Worship at Campmeeting?
According to Rev. Strange, after he attending the La. Campmeeting Service on Wednesday nite, he sensed the sounds of idol worship and chanting during the service. This nite, the worship was lead by MM and the worship team from the POA.
Here is Rev. Strange remarks concerning the worship from this nite. "Moses coming down the mountain heard strange music. He heard a strange sound. He knew something was wrong from the sound. Someone could have said, "Oh never mind, Moses, these young people have come up with their own sound. They ware worshipping the Lord in their own way and music." Moses would have known better. He was right. The music was the sound of worship of an idol made of gold. Such sounds will always be different than that of divine consecreation music. The sound of the uncircucised should not be hard to recognize for those that have their ears and eyes turned toward heaven. I am hearing the worship of an idol. While we have stood stoutly with our standards at the front door of the church, the enemy has slipped in through the back door and has erected an idol in our very midst, under our noses and we did not see it coming. " The songs that were sung that nite were "There is No God Like Our God", "How Great Is Our God", "How Great Thou Art", "When I Speak Your Name" and "To Worship You I Live". According to Rev. Strange, this was the music that caused the "Idol Worship" and "weird chanting". You possibly need to use caution when using these songs in your worship service!! :tiphat |
What was the purpose of this thread? You just wasted a thread to belittle someone. I understand that Bro. Strange's thread was posted out of concern, but this was posted to mock Bro. Stange. God help us to have a godly love for one another.

I make a fourth. But this is what happens when one sees only in the natural, and refuses to seek the Lord for spiritual discernment. They attack the man who the Lord has used. So sad and truly pathetic to say the least.

Psa 33:3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
Psa 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, [even] praise unto our God: many shall see [it], and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Psa 96:1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Psa 98:1 [[A Psalm.]] O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. Psa 144:9 I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery [and] an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee. Psa 149:1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, [and] his praise in the congregation of saints. Isa 42:10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, [and] his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; Rev 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. |
Sorry folks, just reporting the facts! :coffee2

I see you got a lot out of the services!!!!!!!! NOT! Apparently maybe he was right about the spirits he felt. |
I understand some of the sentiment here, but the question was asked several times on the other thread what was sung that was considered chanting. There was never an answer given to the people asking other than something as, "A novice wouldn't understand."
I see this thread as an answer to those questions about the weird chanting comment. |
It's a good thing POA didn't sing the chorus Hallelujah!
I would be a afraid to the "spirits" that would have conjured up!! |
Some bad spirits seemed to have conjured up this attack thread.

Has it ever occurred to you that Bro Strange could be viewed as attacking a lot of good men and women in his postings concerning the camp? Get a life here, he literally posted that the UPC of Louisianna, with music led by the POA, was akin to demonic worship...where was your outrage then... OH, could it be that it wasn't some UC hoedown music therefore it is alright to attack them...???? |
Hmmm...sorry folks have to weigh with I-90 here. I too wanted to know the songs because of his charges, due to the fact that I am a Music Director for an Apostolic church. Hmmm, seems we do these idolatry songs too...I'll give you a sample:
There's no God Like our God There's no God....Like our God, Jehovah and King, He rules everything There's No God...like our God There's no King like our King (choir repeats) There's no Name like His Name (choir repeats with "Jesus" our King) Every tongue shall proclaim Jesus our God Back to chorus There are verses too There's no rock like our Rock No stone like our Stone No grace like our Grace...and so forth Hmmmm...sorry, don't get why this is wrong. My team truly does love worshiping in music and give HIM glory!!! |
I pray that this is not true...
Bro Strange and I have a friendship that goes back 15 years...... I will not say anything publically at this time...But I will call him. The POA was once the church of Bro. Strange...he loves the manguns very much...cannot see him saying these things. |

So it is not OK to question Bro. Strange even though he questioned openly the spirit of an entire district? Should the fact not be seen? Or does it just bother you that the "demonic chants" on the campground were some of the most used worship choruses in Pentecost...including the very traditional "How Great Thou Art?" |
Did you ever thank it was not the songs he was talking about and possibly the way they were song............
I have heard many great songs that were song in away I could not bear to listen to them......... |

However, he has used the terms of "idol worship" and "weird chanting" repeatedly to discribe the music of that nite; and POA did all the music on Wed. nite! |

Instead of sitting there judging it, maybe he could have spent some time simply lifting up Jesus...because I am not going to go along with the "feeling" that he had concerning the entire LA District having a demonic worship set...led by POA to boot...give me a break... If you don't like the style, ok...but you don't have to call it demonic... This generation did the same thing to the Wedgeworth brothers in the early seventies when they were the first to use a drum set at Gen. Conf....funny thing was that Micky was singing with them then--as she was in bible school for a short stint... The Wedgeworth brothers got hammered...all of their meetings except in Florida were cancelled...and 1 year later most of the movement was using drums and singing the same song they got condemned over, "I Wish We'd All Been Ready" |
