I will be taking the College & Career class at our church soon....
Can anyone make any good suggestion on some relevant & effective College & Career Curriculum? |
why don't you write your own curriculum???

I'm just looking to see if there is anything out there that is well done, relevant to an 18-24 year old's actual life with an emphasis on spiritual growth and just good ole 'one foot in front of the other' practical application of Christian principles to daily life. It very well may be the case that I design my own. |

I will let you know as things develop. You have given me extra incentive to look into pulling this together myself. :) |
I don't know about curriculum, but would suggest teaching on finances: budgeting, staying out of debt, etc.

Excellent suggestion... thanks so much. (especially with a few of them about to be married in about a year) |
Let me use Pragmatist's suggestion to expand this thread a little...
What issues do you find important that you feel should be included in a curriculum for 18-24 apostolic young people today? Any suggestions will be apprecaited. |
Seeking a mate/relationships in general
Changing bad patterns from family of origin Decision making with foresight |

Although God has allowed me to be blessed with my finances and remain out-of-debt.... I hardly consider myself wise regarding this area of life, and I know that I still have a LOT to learn.... The average College n Career person likely has thousands in debt due to college loans and/or credit cards.... teaching on finances is good for EVERYONE, but is rarely, if ever, taught on.... Does anyone have any church-friendly, finance-related curriculums??? |

I have decided to go with writing my own curriculum for the class. I have spoken with the pastor and he feels good about it. I will be starting out with a series that cover how the Bible and Christianity in general affects the most basic parts of our lives. This will include...
No lists... no rules... but Christianity in a "rubber meets the road" fashion that engages the young people in a real world discussion about how Christianity affects the way they live their daily lives with open discussion to help them first realize the parts of their lives that we should think about these things and then gain some good insight into how to search out what the right answers should be to these questions. I plan on writing the curriculum a week or 2 ahead and compiling it as I go to put to use for some wider scale plans I have outside this class. Things are moving along well and I am very excited. |
