Didn't a lot of preachers back in the day preach against coffee, cola's, and tea?

Yes. And Mormons don't drink anything with caffeine either. I think JW's avoid it as well.

The bible does say that the children of this world are sometimes wiser that the children of the kingdom.

hammondb3klingon1 02-24-2007 03:22 PM

No caffeine, no heaven. Read Hezekiah 17:4.

LadyChocolate 02-24-2007 04:15 PM

I have heard of some preaching against coffee and tea because of the caffeine and what it does to your body......................~...................but I don't hear too much on the sin of gluttony! *LadyChocolate tiptoes out because no one wants to admit the sin of gluttony is sooo overlooked*

Gluttony - the overlooked sin of Apostolics

Ha ha ha...that reminds me of a story.........a couple of years ago, we were getting ready for a dinner and some ladies were having a hard time serving devilled eggs.... The thought it was just terrible to call the "devilled eggs" so they started calling them angel's eggs..............I thought they were of their rockers...... ha ha ha and they were serious....but I was new there and I thought they were joking and I made fun of them........they didn't laugh at me! lol

Someone mentioned that to me the other day...how come caffeine is legal? I have no idea, maybe they think don't want anyone to think they are mormon's....:heeheehee

I used to just LOVE coffee. My normal routine was to head to the coffee shop in my town, get a triple Amaretto espresso and read my Bible. That was all I would have all day. (like I needed anything else)

On my last trip to India, I really fell in love with chai tea. I have stopped drinking coffee alltogether and now my drug/drink of choice is chai! I have tried many different brands and types and I like Oregon, Tazo and Celestial Seasonings the best, so far.

I have tried chai, but never think of drinking it. I have had Thai iced coffee...oh that is really really good....very rich and sweet and just yummy...hard to sip it and not just drink it right down...

Chai rocks. Tazo's Chai is REALLY good.

I used to drink 4 or 5 cups of coffee a day just to stay awake at work. Then I found out I suffer from sleep apnea and now have a CPAP machine that helps me actually breathe when I sleep...

Since I'm actually awake and able to function like a normal human being (relatively speaking of course), if I have more than one cup of coffee a day now, it makes me wired.

One of my ordained ministers has the exact same problem. He lost a bunch of weight and it helped, but he still uses the CPAP and it helps quite a bit.

Looking back, even when I was thin, I had it. I'd wake up unable to breathe and couldn't figure out what the reason was... now I know what it was... The weight simply compounds the problem.

hammondb3klingon1 02-24-2007 07:04 PM

I just start an IV in the morning with Espresso until 10, then Coffee till 12, then tea till 3 then ?? sleep ??

oh my word...me too...I've never met anyone who, like myself, would drink it at room temperature, old - whatever...I'll drink it left over no problem.

I do like it just black though....not a big fan of all the stuff in a plain ole cup of coffee....

but I do love double espresso with just a hint of steamed milk

Felicity 03-01-2007 09:46 AM

Can't take it black. :nah <------ Love this smilie! :D

They made wonderful iced coffee in Hong Kong too. Must be an Asian thing.

They start with the strong European type of coffee .... then add condensed milk to it and crushed ice of course. It was always wonderful!!
