IF RESOLUTION 4 FAILS: Will some join the PAW, NCO or create their own org?

IF RESOLUTION 4 FAILS [formerly known as Resolution 6]: Will some join the PAW, NCO or create their own org?

Both the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and New Church Order are still predominantly Water and Spirit ... but liberal to moderate on social issues such as holiness standards, tv, etc ....

If the Resolution fails will there be a mass exodus to these fellowships.

Why or why not?

Will there be a call to create a new "pro-tv" org? Who do you think would be the leaders?

Nahum 07-19-2007 01:08 PM

No, there will be a slow trickle of folks who leave, just as there is now.

Yet some have called for an org that is socially progressive but doctrinally sound ... I submit there are options already ....

I see a things happeing more rapidly if it passes and then depends on one's local surroundings. The Oregon district estimated an immediate loss of around 13 churches last time around if it had passed.

Barring an unforseen uprising, this resolution has no chance of passing.

SDG 07-19-2007 01:20 PM

Does anyone know if the results are in from the independent commission??

Nahum 07-19-2007 01:21 PM

Hmmm.

HangingOut 07-19-2007 01:23 PM

Now that is mean. There are between 40 and 50. A lot quite small, however.

I thought NCO wasn't an organization . . . at least that's what I read when it was first created.

It's an organized institution isn't it ???... it may not have the structures we are used to ... a looser fellowship of sorts ... but an org none the less. No?

StillStanding 07-19-2007 01:38 PM

If the resolution doesn't pass, the UPCI is set back for another ten years!! There is little doubt that with time, the resolution will either pass or become obsolete!

What does it matter, with all the loopholes being allowed now?

I don't think it should pass, for I feel it was poorly worded when presented before.

My opinion means as much as yours though PM, I won't be there to vote No.

Do they license ministers? I didn't think they did but I could be mistaken. According to my emails, I am a member of NCO but I certainly am not licensed by them and I am certainly unaware of their offering that option.

Sorry, but making fun of small districts is a pet peeve of mine. There are regional differences that make starting churches in some areas more difficult. I grew up in the South Dakota district and church camp was probably smaller than a lot of churches Sunday attendance. But I am thankful for those that are willing to step outside of their comfort zone and minister to people who are not familiar with Pentecost and where fellowship is few and far between.

What is NCO and can I get overpriced magazines sent too late to be any relative good by joining?

Maybe they can hammer out some kind of compromise that all but the exteme can live with!

I thought the New York Metro District fit into that category. While you understand, there are others that live in the Bible belt that have no concept of what true home missions is. The post can remain to enlighten them. :)

Agreed!

And BOOMM, they send emails and offer web sites not periodicals that are predictably posted past the point of pertinence!

I think most who leave are just independents. The churches are not affiliated in any way. The pastor is licensed through a fellowship of ministers who have no governance or control over he or the local assembly.

NCO and Global seem to be available for fellowship purposes only.
