The Romance Thread
I must confess that I am a hopeless romantic at heart. I still love to date my wife, and love holding her hand after almost 20 years of marriage. She hears me tell her how pretty she is several times a day, and a day does not end that I have not said "I Love You" numerous times.
She is everything to me. It is not a hard thing to love her as Christ loves the Church. I truly feel that if need be, I would give my life in exchange for her safety. With that said, one of the things that I use to cultivate our love is music. I am not talking about songs that generate passion and lust, but songs that cause you to want to just sit close to your spouse and look into each others eye's. I really feel that some marriages would be stronger if more time was given to this type of relationship building. Love songs are a beautiful thing, and they often minister to the heart in a sometimes spiritual way. For better or worst, I am just a romantic at heart. Thanks Matt for starting this thread.
I have to confess that I did not like what you wrote. I was a very Hopeless romantic. I still watch "Chic Flicks" with my wife and get teary eyed. But.....some were along the way I have become more of a father and Provider of the family that I have forgotten I am my wifes husband, lover and friend. Romance is more than candles....kisses...and hugs.....
It's also the Make Out session when your done with an arguement... It's pulling hair and teasing.... It's knowing what each other is thinking on same subject... Romance isn't born overnight....but endures each other thru storms and trials.... Romance is when you can look into each others eyes and see what others can't... Romance is when you can hurt each other's feeling and say your sorry..and be forgiven.... Romance at times is sticky candies but at other times sour grapes....but when they come together sometimes sweet and sour works out... Romance is greater than feelings....it is intimate secrets shared that no other will ever know.... Just some of my thoughts of what true romance is.... |
