A Sad Trend
What is happening in this day and age?
Where has respect for men of God and for one another gone? Has debating issues become a case of oneupmanship? Who can let one more tidbit about someone, or put down remark put someone in their place to wreck any respect for the other? To tell you the truth, I have been pretty busy with work and stuff, but I also don't need the drama so I take CS'S advice (which is good advice BTW) and just switch off the forum and do something else more constructive with my time. Yes, I do know Bro Godwin, not as well as some of you do though. He has ministered to myself and my family, many have gotten the Holy Ghost under his Ministry-many in our Church. I will defend him. Did he miss it in MS last year? Obviously, but shouldn't the embarrassment be enough, or should we heap more scorn on him? What GOOD will that accomplish? I don't know Brother's & Sister's but I miss the old days when discussion even Controversial subjects were discussed with Substance. I miss Noatecea (sp?) rrford, CS,steadfast, and other writers with substance. I have other things to do, but I still think it strange that Men of God, and Saints of God are held in such low esteem that anything seems to go when it comes to disscussion. Sad trend indeed. God Bless! Ron |
You are exactly right my friend. I see this forum as going nowhere lately. I spent the afternoon grabbing lyrics to songs that I have been wanting from some of the threads. I do not see the point of reading the threads that seem to be popular now. The more someone can cut someone up the better they like it lately. It is either that or you got someone touting that they wore a two piece bikini and another poster of the opposite sex requesting pics. Where is this going? I thought this was supposed to be an Apostolic Forum. And yes I won't be surprised when I get the questions regarding that statement.
There are better things I could be doing with my time and I plan to persue those. |

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. What is in our hearts is coming
out our mouths, or being written. The words we speak, whether it is spoken or written, is telling those who hear or read, exactly what is on the inside. Where is the man/woman crying out to God, "LORD, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew in me a right spirit", or the desire of " Let the words of my mouth and the mediations of my heart be acceptable unto THEE, O God". LORD, who am I desiring to please. God or man (myself). Blessings, Falla39 |

You have the right attitude. It is the attitude that I want too. In all of this trivia, it is too easy to become flippant and disrespectful toward each other. A good reminder such as yours is a tug of the chain reminds me that truly, my desire it to please God above man or self. In all of this discussion that sometimes become a little steamed, especially among preachers, that element of respect should remain with love being the guiding principle. The attitude of humility should always be present, allowing for criticism and discussion of that criticism when our hearts and minds are pure, desiring to be more like Christ by which that often stinging criticism has a correcting affect. Humility is not being wimpish, but is quick to repent when error within us is exposed. The life of King David is a great example of that. "Search me O God. Know my thoughts I pray. See if there be some wicked way in me." |

I too have wondered how men, who are, Apostolic, Holy Ghost Filled, call by God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world, could in good conscience be a regular participant on such a forum as this, that calls itself Apostolic. I too have seen very many sexual innuendo’s joked about and discussed between those of the opposite sex. Just recently Brother William Price and I have been made the butt of just such crude sexual innuendos. There’s been many crude and rude comments made concerning things that shouldn’t be joked about on an open forum where many, many come and read and never post. And we call ourselves Apostolic Holy Ghost Filled Christians? |

Bro. Ron, I'm glad you posted this thread and that you are not ashamed to stand of for men of God. I miss many that I've met on the forum...miss the laughs and good discussions of past...there definitely does seem to be a more negative trend indeed. |

could you share your understanding of the application the scripture you cited with the post from Hot Coffee? |

So refresh my memory here . . . "There’s been many crude and rude comments made concerning things that shouldn’t be joked about on an open forum where many, many come and read and never post." Care to give examples? Again, I must have missed it all because I haven't seen what you have. |

Doesn't this board have an 'ignore user' function? |
10 Commandments for posting
1) Be nice! 2) Ask HONEST questions -doesn't matter the question as long as it is honest and age appropriate for the board. 3) Don't take offense at others' "honest" questions 4) Be prepared to BACK UP what you say 5) Be nice! 6) If someone is disrespecting YOU or your positions continuesly, then just ignore them for a while. Don't fire back.... 7) ....but then be prepared to give them a 2nd chance after a short break! And a third and a forth..... 8) Be nice! 9) Be willing to "test all things" and keep an open mind! (Perhaps one of the hardest commandments to follow) 10) Be nice! |

i don't feel like the church needs to follow the world in lowering the bar. Just because the world has lowered its standard so far down that they don't have any standard anymore doesn't mean that the church need to follow suit. It is a great opportunity as the world grows darker for the church to shine brighter but some choose to blend in with the darkness.

Bro. OP Carl, Sorry, just saw this! I think it does, but I don't know where it is. I have never used it nor do I plan to. I just take it all, eat the meat and throw away the bones! :slaphappy:slaphappy:slaphappy Blessings, Falla39 |
Back in the day, we gained and improved character by lying in the bed we made for ourselves and taking ownership of our actions.
More than the so called trend of folks hammering the ministry, I think the real problematic trend is that people just can't stand up and say they made a mistake and move on. There is waaaay too much pride flowing out there and I think the mentality that if we apologize to people that somehow our authority or reputation is being compromised, is all too alive and well. Instead we/minstry are content to simply be satisfied with the perspective that, "I don't remember doing/saying that, you are wrong!" This is exactly why people don't trust the people and the ministry anymore. |

I'm not going to bother logging out and back onto the ADMIN ID. I'll just make this an official post from the admin team. In reference to the bolded part of your post. Posts regarding this matter were previously deleted by Admin from the other thread. I do not understand why you chose to mention this again after we had previously handled the situation. Please refrain from continuing this in this thread, or from carrying it over to any other threads. Thank you. :) |

Hmmm . . . there's a nice dust storm wall coming into the PHX valley from the South and it just started raining . . .
I love Monsoon season! Although, this means I'll have to clean the pool of debris and junk before I can go swimming later on . . . :cowbell |

I agree Sister! When I first came over here a few weeks ago....I thought it might be a pretty good place to visit with some nice Holyghost filled people of God. Oh my what a shock I've had! Granted there are a few people on here that know how to treat others with respect and I've appreciated their posts. In my opinion the title of this forum should be changed. I'd be ashamed for any of my friends who don't know the Lord to read some of the garbage posted here. I put on my flak jacket every time I come over to visit. I like to read the good quality posting...but there's always a smart alec who tries to ruin each good thread started. |

As tbpew has already shown, your insights and reactions are accurate and cut quickly to the heart of the matter. You can help raise the bar by simply conducting yourself as a Christian here. There are quite a few on here that set a good Godly example, and are careful with their words. Already you sound like you could be one. When the teenagers are having a thrown-worm eating contest, it's a poor time to open one's mouth. It's also good to recognize that some use this forum as a place to blow off a little steam. |
