I miss FCF

Not to put down this forum I enjoy it but there were so many different participators on FCF. The views were so broad and the discussions were very lively. Many of those who posted there often very seldom come here both libs & cons. That chemistry so far has not been matched in my opinion.

I miss gasoline at $1.00 a gallon too, but it's not coming back.

Make the best of your situation.

Now why would we take that as a put down on this forum?

You have only stated that...
  • Views here are comparatively narrow.
  • The discussions are not as lively.
  • Those who provided the broad and lively discussion don't come here.
  • The chemistry here is a lesser one.

Now why would anyone take that as a put down?

Lost 08-13-2007 12:34 PM

SE, nice hat. I like it.

I know! It has never been matched nor ever will be again I don't guess.

Discussion here isn't the same because certain dynamics are created when you have a particular mix of posters with varying degrees of intellectual ability, temperaments, intelligence, experience, etc. that are missing now.

But then we can compare, Bro. Epley, while many here who have joined these forums after the demise of FCF can't. ;) :)

Lost 08-13-2007 12:37 PM

I think this forum is whatever we decide to make it.

Esther 08-13-2007 12:39 PM

I think "part" of it is that the same things are being discussed now that was discuss then and the "new" has worn off. JMO

Yes, and fine upstanding relationships formed. It was a great place.

This forum is what it is. There's nothing particularly wrong with it. It's just that it's not FCF and we don't expect it to be really. Just miss the level, intensity and excitement of posting that took place there. Some of us can compare and it's hard to not make the comparison.

Doesn't mean we're dissing this forum - not at all.

Malvaro 08-13-2007 12:48 PM

Maybe we could bring LarryBoy outta retirement to "spice" things up again???

Very true. Sometimes I post and I think ..... "how many times have I said that already?" LOL.

I get tired sometimes of going over and over the same thing for the umpteenth time and think too that perhaps some of those who've been posting with me since even before the start of FCF must get tired of hearing the same old too. Sometimes that alone keeps me from sharing an opinion or view ---- for the 10,000th time. LOL. ;) :)

freeatlast 08-13-2007 12:56 PM

The rehashing of topics that wee have discussed ad nauseum just seems to wear thin.

As many times as we've discussed the error of the uncut hair doctrine. The error of taking a scripture out of Toarh and trying to make it read women can't only wear dresses.

Some of us have given up hope that you will ever see the light Br Epley :killinme

Henceforth some the "livley" discussions of FCF will not be repeated. :angelsad

Yeah..that's what I was trying to say. Feleicity always says so much nicer than I. :hypercoffee

Felicity 08-13-2007 01:02 PM

Talking about war on that other thread we had some major battles and bloodletting on FCF.

I think too much moderating stifles great debate and discussion too.

Yes..Ol Tribble was a lot of fun. So many were fun to post with back then.

I guess some have just chosen to move on to other avenues. They are missed around here.

Lighten up Mal. Don't be so defensive or take things so personal when they're not meant that way.

It's a general statement and I've been making it for years now so don't get all bent out of shape.

They just recently resigned their church and handed it back to his FIL. Moving on. They don't know where they are going next, but they felt to resign.

Intellectual ability can be mistaken as someone trying too hard to say big things that makes no sense and leaves you thinking you are the dumber one.

There's always someone dumber. And then there are the just plain dumb. :killinme

:D

Brett Prince 08-13-2007 01:26 PM

I have to agree with Bro. Epley. I love this forum, and would continue to come, but if the old FCF were up again--and it were really the old FCF, then I would find myself there quite often.

I was just thinking of folks that I miss:

Tribble, believe it or not.
WWOD
I forget the whole name, but it had Kitty in it.
Tim Landry
Roy Ballard
But the list went on and on of people I miss.
Forever Blessed... At least I don't think I have seen FB on here.
I miss the reposting of Jim's old posts.
I miss Vickie and Tyhuffy
I miss JB, I can't remember his username there.

SoCaliUPC 08-13-2007 01:29 PM

What we miss here...and what the other forums allowed for...was some controversial topics. Those get stifled here...as we want "peace". It's what made the other forums more lively and generated interest. We have lost an "interest" in this forum....at times, for the sake of "peace."

Several of those are here. :)

Well, then let's stop running them all off! :killinme

There's a reason they aren't here.

Malvaro 08-13-2007 01:53 PM

heres what the stats are telling us:

this seems to suggest lots of new users and/or carry-over posters are stepping up their posting habits, even with the absence of numerous long-time FCF/NFCF posters....

Felicity 08-13-2007 02:02 PM

Oh, well there's no sour grapes here. Can't help but compare is all.

I think that to hear people's thoughts is good. Don't you all?

Doug Joseph! That's it! :thumbsup

Felicity 08-13-2007 02:12 PM

Also Roxanne Murphy's hubby.

Malachi (Carey Ms husband) - miss him posting

Coonskinner 08-13-2007 02:21 PM

Count me among the missers.:)

Sister Alvear 08-13-2007 02:23 PM

I think the missing factor is Brother Jim...along with some others but he was the heart of the other forum. However I like this one just as much maybe better in some ways because I have got to know several posters personally and I know who I am talking to.

Blessings to all that give your time on the forum!

Coonskinner 08-13-2007 02:24 PM

Wally was a lot of fun on FCF.

Scott Hutchinson 08-13-2007 02:24 PM

Bro.Yohe can never be replaced ,and FCF just had a certain chemistry, why it did I don't know, but at times it was a mine -field.
The Sexual Practices forum to me was a rather gutsy thing to have on a Christian forum ,not to many folks would have been brave enough to try it.
But doubtful Thomas was gutsy too.

Scott Hutchinson 08-13-2007 02:29 PM

WWOD was a Fire Starter on FCF.

Coonskinner 08-13-2007 02:31 PM

WWOD has the ability to single-handedly transform the entire dynamic and atmosphere of a forum.

He is mercurial, brilliant, and controversial, as well as very, very prolific.

He leaves a huge hole when he isn't around.

Lost 08-13-2007 02:32 PM

*welcome back to reality folks*

FCF is gone! NFCF is gone! Make the best of the present!
