What's it like "being old"?

Just curious, as I haven't gotten there yet.

Any thoughts? :hypercoffee

Felicity 08-13-2007 02:47 PM

I don't know either. We'll have to wait for the "old" folks to fill us in. Hehe. :D ;)

Sherri 08-13-2007 02:49 PM

Well, 50 is the new 30!!! I feel young and am rarin' to go!

Sounds about right to me. ;)

And we've got the experience that 30 year olds (numerically speaking) don't have to go with that which can only be a GOOD thing! :thumbsup

You are older than me, so go ahead!

Dedicated Mind 08-13-2007 02:59 PM

As I get older, I ponder what awaits me at death and if all this prophecy stuff is gonna come true and WHEN? I have been born again and have spoken in tongues many times, but I am anxious for all of the prophecies to come true and wonder if they will in my lifetime. Is God waiting for apostolics to go on satellite and evangelize the world or for the world to degenirate into wickedness, or both?

Scott Hutchinson 08-13-2007 03:04 PM

Now that I'm 40 I look back at my life and see so many dumb mistakes and blown chances I wish I would have done so many things differently.

BoredOutOfMyMind 08-13-2007 03:35 PM

One word

Painful!

Hoovie 08-13-2007 03:36 PM

Amazing what botox and a tuck-n-lift can do for self image!

StillStanding 08-13-2007 03:40 PM

I stopped growing at the top and bottom, and started growing in the middle! :)

Trouvere 08-13-2007 03:42 PM

Since I don't consider myself old I would not know.:hypercoffee

20 is older than 19 too, but that doesn't make someone old. :poloroid

If you can relate to these...you're old!

1. You and your teeth don't sleep together.

2. Your try to straighten out the wrinkles in your socks and discover you aren't wearing any.

3. At the breakfast table you hear snap, crackle, pop and you're not eating cereal.

4. Your back goes out but you stay home.

5. When you wake up looking like your driver's license picture.

6. It takes two tries to get up from the couch.

7. When your idea of a night out is sitting on the patio.

8. When happy hour is a nap.

9. When you're on vacation and your ENERGY runs out before your money does.

12. When all you want for your birthday is to not be reminded of your age.

13. When you step off a curb and look down one more time to make sure the street is still there.

14. Your idea of weight lifting is standing up.

15. It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.

16. Your memory is shorter and your complaining lasts longer.

17. Your address book has mostly names that start with Dr.

18. You sit in a rocking chair and can't get it going.

19. The pharmacist has become your new best friend.

20. It takes twice as long - to look half as good.

21. Everything hurts, and what doesn't hurt - doesn't work.

22. You look for your glasses for half an hour and they were on your head the whole time.

23. You sink your teeth into a steak and they stay there.

24. You give up all your bad habits and still don't feel good.

25. You have more patience, but it is actually that you just don't care anymore.

26. You finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart.

27. You wonder how you could be over the hill when you don't even remember being on top of it.

ChTatum 08-13-2007 08:37 PM

Falla39 08-14-2007 03:53 PM

What's it like "being old"?

I will be 68 come Sept. 18th. Surely I will began to feel old one

of these years, but so far I haven't!! As a man/woman thinketh

in his/her heart, so is he.

The wonderful thing is that as this outward man/woman perishes,

the inner man/woman is being renewed day by day. What's growing

on the inside will come to term one of these days and the old outer

shell will be buried in the ground. The undertakers will have gotten

the blood, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of

God. My plans are to just let God be God. He will wind this whole

thing up in righteousness one of these days.

Blessings,

Falla39

You know I remember sitting in church as a child and wondering if the Lord would return by the time I was 17. I don't know why I chose 17 but I did. LOL. :)

Well i'm way past 17 and He still hasn't returned but I'm still looking forward to that. I'd love to be translated out of this mess. :thumbsup

Old???!!!??? Who is old??? Just who was this question directed at?

:D

A number of years ago, a member of a church I used to pastor gave me a tape with one song on it. Where he got it, I don't know. However, one time I will agree with George Jones:

I don't need your rockin' chair...
your Geritol or medicare...

A break from the traditional lib versus con. Now we have the "young' versus the "old".

Now we have to define age and beauty. Oh, it just gets deeper on these issues, never clearer!:D

Trouvere 08-15-2007 03:54 PM

Beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder.
Age is something totally related to time.Time was made as a service to man.
There is no time in God.He is timeless.

DM - forgive me at the outset if I sound condescending, but you do sound a lot like I used to sound - before I got "old" or at least "older."

The whole focus of my walk with Christ was wrapped up in the Dispensational approach to Bible prophecy and I became something of an "expert" (other people's word, not my own) on the subject.

What I have found now that I'm starting to push up against 50 is that I missed a whole lot of life and living by being so absorbed with the endtimes stuff. As Apostolics we tended to place less importance on the "here and now" and always looked forward to everyone else suffering the wrath we figured they deserved.

Now all of that seems so shallow to me. I wish that I had spent more time just encouraging "sinners" with life affirming messages than with dire warnings of a doom I could not predict. I think that I would have had a greater impact in more lives that way, and more to show for it today.

Rico 08-15-2007 06:17 PM

Every last one of you who is 40 or over, and denying you are old need to repent for LYING!!!! Ya know good and well that yer old and just don't want to admit it!! Embrace your grey hairs and learn to love them, 'cause no matter how much Clairol you use they're still grey underneath the dye!! You know good and well you'd rather drive than walk, even if it is just a couple of blocks 'cause you will pay for it later!!! Live in the now and right now you are OLD!!!! :D

Bro. Rico,

How old are you? You don't know what you are talking about, young man!!

I love you as a brother but I am not lying. I do not color my hair, never have,

(I am only speaking for myself, I don't condemn anyone). I enjoy walking and

my husband of 48 yrs. and I walk on the track near our home. I am living in

the present (NOW) and I am not old!:nah:nah

I am on no medication! I can bend forward and place my hands FLAT on

the floor without bending my knees! Can you do that?

I am getting older but I AM NOT OLD!!:killinme

Now, are you willing to repent???:hanky:hanky

Blessings,

commonsense 08-15-2007 11:08 PM

You've heard the adage you're only as old as you feel.........there are days the physical body is feeling mighty old but inside I still feel young. I'm closer to 60 than to 50 but for the most part feel much younger. It's in the attitude!
My mom was 85 when she passed away but said that you still feel 21 inside.

The secret is attitude. There are 20 yr olds that are OLD and those of 70 that are still young. :driving (just watch out for those old drivers)

Sister Falla39 has the best energy producer available and that is the power of the Holy Ghost. If you have ever met her, you would have recognized the uniqueness of this beautiful vessel of our Lord.
