***BOMBSHELL*** Stepping Out of the Box: CLC mocks traditionalism at NAYC?

Christian Life College, Stockton, CA. launched these Mac vs. PC TV commercial spoofs at the UPCI North American Youth Congress in an attempt to attract new alumni.

Seems to have fit nicely in TG's theme for the conference.

revrandy 08-15-2007 09:34 AM

Funny Commercials..... Seems if they can't get students by academics or class....just slam other Bible Schools...Wow...

Funny how the spirit and ego of the leadership of a Church trickles down to those who attend there... sad in a way...

I guess it's all a matter of perspective, huh Thump??? Do these videos offend you? I love the cow lick look ... Dad sported it.

The guy in the box was hilarious...

I'm not offended at all. CLC is what it is and they project the message that is reflective of their core values and beliefs and they will attract students who are like minded. Why would I be offended by an educational institute that is completely at odds with what I believe promoting what they believe. The local community college doesn't offend me with their adds either.

They aren't attracting that many lately.... they are barely surviving...

I'm sure that this will really help though. Staking your territory as the most extremely liberal bible college where all evidence of old time pentecost has been stripped away will be strong draw on the carnal.

What is it that CLC believes and promotes that you have issue with?

That is funny, if there is any place Old Time Pentecost is promoted it is NH's ministry, he loves OT Pentecost, sings about it, preaches about it and dresses like it. This is really a funny post, little you know about CLC.

I don't have any issue with anything Keith. The ad speaks for itself don't you think.

This is true... But the whole situation seems to be an oxymoron at times... :D

I have no interest in getting into a slagging match over what CLC does or doesn't believe. Like I said Keith the ad speaks volumes.

It is a marketing ploy, nothing more or less. It is what it is. I frankly don't think CLC is cutting edge enough.

I agree ... whats with the Seagravian view on justification anyway ... it's somewhat hybrid PCI/PAJC ... very conflicting theology being taught there, IMO

I think that old adage, Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover is applicable here, NH loves technology and will use it to promote what he believes, and what he believes is died in the wool Old Time Pentecostal/Apostolic Revival.

Well you could label it to define it, but Segraves believes in the bible and is willing to take a stand for what he believes to be true about justification as described in the text of scripture, even if it isn't the party line.

It really has no bearing on me so I'll drop out of the conversation. I mean I wouldn't even send my cat their for litter box training let alone a young man or lady from my church who I felt had a call of God on their life.

As Monkeyman would say

Peaceout

I loved the creativity of these guys though, I know the college gave permission and endorsed these videos, but I image the "brain" behind them isnt one of the teachers, I suspect that it is one of the students.

They did a great job!

I really hope some are given a chance to go to New Delhi.

They were funny, but I didn't feel good about them considering they were slamming other Bible Colleges.

chaotic_resolve 08-15-2007 12:57 PM

I thought it was a little in bad taste . . . seemed to bash the other BS'. I hope CLC actually does go to New Dehli. I do know that Gateway, when I was there, went to Russia.

It was produced well, but I didn't like the attitude.

Isn't that the point of PC vs Mac?

For that genre I thought the ads were nicely understated. They seemed to be playing upon the frustrations a lot of OP young people are feeling about the movement in general.

I thought they (and the whole feel of this year's NAYC) are an attempt to reach out to the dissaffected youth who are spurning the UPC Bible Colleges overall. The UPC is loosing a couple of generations at the same time right now because of a rather bone-headed approach to evangelism and life in general. - "Bone-headed" in my humble opinion, of course. -

Bible College enrollments are way down, young ministers are "missing," and the most compelling answer to those problems has been the "official" condemnation of what we in the 1980's called "baggy jams." Oh boy, that'll make a young person's spirit soar up to the throne of God! Condemnation of the human ankle bone! You reap what you've sown.
