CoonBishop: Wish You Were Here Today

Bro. CoonBishop,

Wishing you were here today... I'm getting ready to meet with a group of our 'mutual' friends at a Chinese restaurant. What more can a man ask for?

Got a call this morning so I and my sons are on our way to meet Bro. & Sis. Murrell Ewing, Bro. George Guy, Bro. David Smith and Bro. Greg Godwin for lunch. First thing I thought of was wishing you were here to spend the day with us.

First of all, it would be good to fellowship with you a while.
Secondly, you could take care of my Ministry Training session tonight. :sshhh

Love you and yours.

triumphant1 08-28-2007 09:31 AM

Thirdly, you could pay the bill....ROTFL!!!

Coonskinner 08-28-2007 09:32 AM

Elder, if I had a magic carpet I would fly down there.

The only thing I would change is that I would sit among the disciple tonight and listen, not "take care" of it.:)

Well... now this is strange.

Okay... you must have mistyped and corrected it. I see now.

What? That CS could pay the bill for the meal?

It seems like another good reason to have him there....

Just having fun...have a great meal and tell GG that Rob G said Hi from tulsa...

Evang.Benincasa 08-28-2007 09:37 AM

Is the restaurant in East Texas or Louisiana?

Just woke up today and - before I got the call - was wishing we lived closer together. I'm weary in body but 'pumped' in my spirit. Would like to be with you and your family... perhaps we need to set something up again soon.

Yes...,the first time the editor put the color in when I had my curser in the middle of the sentence (which divided the sentence and turned it around....I rarely use that feature.

That would certainly be great.

Greet GG, DS, and the Ewings for me.:)

I'd like to meet Brother Guy some day too.

Digging4Truth 08-28-2007 09:47 AM

We sang at Brother Ewing's church about 6-7 years back but I doubt he would remember me.

Brother Guy is a great friend of ours. I haven't had the privilege of seeing him face to face in a few years. Fantastic man of God.

I heard tell of one time a few of the preacher brethren got together and were eating boiled crawfish... Brother Ewing peeled all his first and then was going to dive in and have a great old time...

The brethren had the waitress call him away for a fake phone call... and they ate all of his already peeled crawfish while he was gone.

MERCY... that is a prank and a half. One that I would never have the nerve to pull on Brother Ewing. That man is serious about boiled crawfish. :)

Steadfast 08-28-2007 10:05 AM

Just passed the NLYP's funeral home. I guess it was his - had his last name (and, no, I don't think it's 'YP'). I didn't realize I'd pass by it taking this 'new' way. (I usually travel another way).

Blew by it doing about 80... but I waved after I realized it must have been NLPY's place.

Be sure and ask GG if he has gotten any royalty checks from the Borat movie!

According to the Taft-Hartley act he should also be eligible to join the Screen Actors Guild now so he can audtion for future roles in film and televison.:hypercoffee

If you don't slow down you are going to be a customer of his! I have a feeling you were not on an interstate.

Ferd 08-28-2007 10:17 AM

I thought brother Guy was in Vidor? is he not still assting?

any time you eat with Brother ME in his neck of the woods, you are garenteed to be eating good.

you need to tell him to take you to the lebaneese (sp) place!

I will be in LC thrusday....

PS, on your way out of town, you should stop at Proneas and get a cajun chicken sammich to take home for supper. also get a turkey and smoked cheese.

it is a pretty straight road but it is infamous for being hard on the human life.

Now once you get to 171 things will be much better. after 22 years of work, they have four laned the 45 miles from Lake Charles to DeRidder.

Brother Ewing took me to a Chinese place in Lake Charles once--but they still had crawfish.:)

Bro. Guy has been with Bro. Ewing for years. Never assisted in Vidor that I know of... preached there some, though.

Proneas? Never heard of it but if the sammich is good as you say it is I may need an address.

P.S.: I'm so far out in the woods my GPS doesn't even know where I am!

You can be assured that where ever Brother Ewing eats, the food will be outstanding.

PS, stop by Steamboat bills for a crawfish pistolette

My son is driving and I'm in the passenger seat typing on a laptop on a road with more curves than a dog's hind leg... getting sick. On some Camp Edgewood road.... They say that 171 is in sight, though.

Dont forget to tell the good bishop to take you to the Lebanese place.

Steadfast 08-28-2007 01:27 PM

Well, had a good time today with all those precious brethren. There is absolutely no substitute for real brethren who have no ulterior motives.... God is good.

Rushing back right now to do our Ministers Training meeting tonight. Would have stayed longer but I promised my young preachers that the next 4 Tuesday nights belonged to them...

BY THE WAY... I know what NLYP does when he isn't working on dead bodies: He uses a weedeater on the edges of the parking lot. I passed by and he was getting with it. Didn't have time to stop but we blew the horn as we passed by.

Hey, NLYP, we just passed an 18 wheeler accident right down the highway from you. You may be getting some business real soon!

Took the words right out of my mouth. Our Chinese buffets have boiled crawfish in season and usually have etoufee when boiled is not in season.

I am sure a great time was had by all.... of course with ME involved they may still be at the restaurant. That fine Elder do enjoy his vittles!:killinme

I can't believe you took the back way to 171 from DeQuincy. That road will indeed make you feel a little nauseated.

Ya'll must be meeting Elder Ewing at his new Hacienda in Ragley. You are about 5 miles from my momma when you are at Elder Ewing's house.

We went to a little 'hole in the wall' called Wok Bo in a little shopping center thingy. Food was good, though, and they made two or three special dishes for the whole entourage. Good stuff!

We did run by his house for a few minute, too. Beautiful place! We had been there before but he wanted us to come out for some coffee and fellowship.

The Ewings are phenominal people that are as kind as can be. Bro. Landy and several others ate lunch with us. What an incredible crew of Christians.

I am most jealous of these happenings transpiring without my being present. I am going to have to move my abode toward the south shores.

There are few places with better food than Lake Charles. There are few men who can find GREAT food better than Brother Ewing.

There is no such thing as a town smaller than 200K that has better food than Lake Charles.

Go south, young man, go south!

**** Those were the very words that were spoken to me by a Prophet when I was Evangelizing and felt like it was time to Pastor. I had three Churches asking me to come - one was my home Church and another the one I Pastor to this day - and I was a confused man.

I generally prayed for doors to be opened but at this point I prayed for doors to be shut! I walked in one night to a special service... we were late and I had to sit on the back row. Looked up and the speaker came running (AFTER the 'amen' was said to close the service) on the backs of the pews and stopped in front of me and said, "Bro. White, I knew you would be here tonight. God told me to tell you, "Go south, young man, go south!"

I did.

It was God.

:sshhh

Elder,

if i had known I would have joined you all. You were 90 seconds from my house. I live down the road next to the Catholic church across the street from Wok Bo!:hypercoffee

Did you get chill bumps when you drove past my street?:driving:hypercoffee

By then I had motion sickness... does that count?

I perceive you would have been another Christian amongst the rest... would love to get to fellowship you more.

That one on 171 is Vonnie and Aaron's. Elder Ewing built on Camp Edgewood road about 3 or 4 years ago. He has about 30 or 40 acres out there. He is right at a mile from 171 on the west side.
