I am banning myself

I don't believe I have been doing things well, not just here, but nonetheless, I have been snapping too much at folks, and I have been on here too much--when I have too much other stuff to be doing.

I am putting myself on a ban until Friday.

The reason for the thread is not because I think you will desperately miss me--but for accountability. If you see me posting on here before Friday--not just lurking--but posting--I want you to blast me good for breaking my word. That will help me stay off.

Thanks! God bless!

Have a good break brother... and may good things come from it.

We will accept your wisdom and be with you in your decision.

See you when your self imposed ban is complete.

mfblume 08-28-2007 01:38 PM

I permanently banned myself from three sites before. It really works good when you do it before you know the admins will. LOL

The Mrs, wow, great avatar!!! You see there are some very wonderful couples and families on this forum. :)

Hey Elder Prince, don't ban yourself stick around. Accountability works better if we all work together right here. :)

As usual I miss all of the excitement. Where and when did the bad hehaviour exhibit itself? I have not seen anything but nice posts from BP on AFF lately.

In any case have a good break BP and we will see you on Friday. Just think, if you were a REAL conservative you wouldn't have this angst as you would NEVER be on the internet. LOL!!!

Did someone hear a voice? Hmmm...I wonder who that was :hypercoffee

Well we WILL miss you nevertheless. However I personally think it's good to take vacations from certain things, forums, the internet, the job and spend them in other areas that might be best used.

I often take breaks from certain threads or dialoging with certain individuals that I apparently am at odds with just to stop the flow of words and let the growing heat subside. However I find it hard to leave the forum entirely as an admin, but sometimes as an admin it's better to just not engage in too many discussions for a while and just read.

A homonym (not hominem) deal -- Gladly, the cross I'd bear. ;)

The contest is still ongoing. Go to Newman's thread about her son's contest and it will link you to the YouTube web address to vote for Michael. Go quickly! The contest is over in a few hours and we are trying to push him over the top!! :telephone

Elder Prince would never snap at anyone or get into an argument on the forum. I don't think he ever became sarcastic with anyone. I think he should just keep posting until he really loses it and then get an official ban. :)

Elder Prince? How old is the man, and why do we throw the word "elder" around so casually?

It is generally used when we feel a man merits the title, and it has little to do with age.

Those of us who know him consider him in that light.

SDG 08-28-2007 02:33 PM

Yawn.

I am new to this line of thinking Coonskinner. Please shower me with scriptures that encourage the christening of young men as elders. I assure you my request is completely sincere as I hold ministry in the highest regard.

I don't think I believe in "christening" anybody.

I don't know about the shower either.:)

comparative of presbus (elderly)

Outline of Biblical Usage 1) elder, of age,

a) the elder of two people

b) advanced in life, an elder, a senior

1) forefathers

2) a term of rank or office

a) among the Jews

1) members of the great council or Sanhedrin (because in early times the rulers of the people, judges, etc., were selected from elderly men)

2) of those who in separate cities managed public affairs and administered justice

b) among the Christians, those who presided over the assemblies (or churches) The NT uses the term bishop, elders, and presbyters interchangeably

c) the twenty four members of the heavenly Sanhedrin or court seated on thrones around the throne of God

You obviously do not consider him an elder because of his age, so would "Elder" Prince meet the biblical, New Testament qualifications for his lofty title?

1. Is he a ruler of a council?
2. Is he a secular ruler of any sort?
3. Does he preside over an assembly?
4. Does he sit around the throne of God?

Found it on the net ... It's a reminder for all of us - me first.

... it's a note also to the sacramentalist baptismal regenerationists.

ChTatum 08-28-2007 02:52 PM

Elder Prince does indeed preside over an assembly.

This is a bit facetious. I don't think that when the bible instructs us to call the elders if there are any sick among us ... it asks us for presiding credentials.

mfblume 08-28-2007 02:58 PM

"elder", "Yeshua", all these terms. I know what they mean. Why cannot we get down to earth? lol

No?

Paul wasn't Elder Paul?
Peter wasn't Elder Peter?
Apollos wasn't Elder Apollos?

You may be on to something Elder Alicea.

Praxeas 08-28-2007 03:01 PM

Speaking as both an admin and a user, let's be careful NOT to direct any post at BP or about him that would be a negative commentary about him. He did not call himself an elder and this thread he started was strictly to let others know why he would be gone for a while.

Im not saying anyone is doing this but the direction it is going I can see this possibly happening.

Thanks

I can't imagine anyone being so cruel as to purposefully hurt another poster Praxeas.

Speaking of the title "Elder", I wonder why "Brother" isn't good enough any longer? Could it be that "Brother" implies equality while "Elder" implies superiority?

When John Mark started his ministry Paul did not give him his "PROPS" right away ... later Paul was asking for him by name

... post awhile longer and perhaps I'll consider you an elder. :poloroid
