Air Travel Advisory: All commercial air travelers need to pray

. . . FOR THEMSELVES ! ! !

:praying

OP_Carl has just accepted a position designing jet engines for commercial airliners.

Great news!:telephone

Is it going to be a big change for you? If it is, what planes will you be designing ? I'll try to avoid them! :sos

This is an incorrect tack for you to take.

This is the appropriate time for all of you to start being nicer to me, not to step up your level of antagonism. :uhoh :nah

:winkgrin

It takes Rocket Scientists...

Nevermind.

What type of engines have you been designing before this new job?

BTW, congrats.

Darcie 09-04-2007 04:53 PM

:congrats

Sister Alvear 09-04-2007 05:24 PM

That sounds very interesting...blessings to you.

CC1 09-04-2007 05:26 PM

Cool!!!

I hope it is for Boeing and not Airbus. I think the new Dreamliner is a great step forward with it's fuel efficiency, quietness, and range.

Let's all just hope that those fancy new plastics / composites that make up the body instead of good ole aluminum works ok!!!!

The difference between what I'll be doing and rocket science is a distinction without a difference.

But I've been designing feed troughs, so I'm well-prepared.

Many of the basic guiding principles carry over, such as:

smooth

downhill

a spinny thing to propel the feed - is that called an auger?

upwind if you can manage it.

Now that you mention it, I think I flew on one of those the last time I traveled by air.

Congrats on the new challenge! :) :)

Hoovie 09-05-2007 06:50 AM

Now they are just troughs... they even took the feed out!

I suppose I should mention that the feed troughs stuff was just a joke. We can't have the witless among us scared even moreso. :faint

I have never been involved in the design of feed troughs . . . :ranting

Just the legs that hold them up. :dunno

:winkgrin

I agreed provisionally to take the job, my one condition being that they allow me to shoot the chicken gun at least one time while I'm there.:hunter

This is gonna be so COOL! :bubble: :airplane

Good heavens! Now I understand why we need to pray!

LOL! :)

I'm just messin with yer hedd. :crazy

:D

Lately I've been designing detonation-proof induction systems for industrial engines that have intensive reliability requirements. I've been in the engine business for 12 years.

But I figured I act enough like a goober at AFF that the thought of me poking around in your airliner's engines would have most of you scared silly. :att :uhoh :faint

:evilglee

Ferd 09-06-2007 08:51 AM

we have us a rocket scientist in our midst.

egads.

BoredOutOfMyMind 09-06-2007 08:57 AM

OP_Carl I guess I am safe for November, since I am not riding a feed trough you helped design.

congrads on the new adventure!

Brother Strange 09-06-2007 09:05 AM

i can fly with the peace of mind that the engines on my plane were perhaps designed by a son of God working for a company that little realizes how blessed they are to have an employee born from above whose life is in the heavenlies. If they only realized that your very presence on their payroll will help to make them profitable...if nothing else. The blessings are conferred, not only on the company, its employees but also the many stock holders that have invested in the company.

Congratulations!

Thank you.

I'm thrilled and excited. These are decidedly happy times for our household. Also, there are at least 3 other Apostolic engineers in the company. There are supposedly some other Apostolics that work there in other capacities, but I don't know them.

I don't know if I'm both Apostolic and good at what I do because I'm good at compartmentalization, or because I can see God in the details.

And I'm deadly serious about that chicken gun. :drawguns :hunter

They better let me shoot that thing, or else! :ranting
