My niece was killed tonight

Please remember my brother and his wife and daughter and all of the rest of my family in prayer right now. My 17 year old niece was killed in a car accident this evening.

Jamie had only had her drivers license for less than a month. My brother bought her a new truck yesterday, which she drove two times. Tonight she and a friend were headed to another friend's house to spend the night together. Jamie ran through a stop sign and was broadsided by a semi truck. She died instantly. The other girl in the truck with her is in ICU. Please also pray for her and for her family.

Thanks so much.

Who would have known that losing a niece could be so painful!!

Oh, Margie, this just made me cry. I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss. These things are hard to explain! I will pray that God will be with you to heal your hurt.

RevDWW 09-07-2007 10:36 PM

Oh....the loss must be almighty painful...Pray'n right now for you and the family.

CC1 09-07-2007 10:37 PM

That is terrible news Margie. I will be praying for the entire family. That is a parents worst nightmare.

Margies3 09-07-2007 10:37 PM

Thanks, Sherri. Please especially pray for my brother and his wife. I can honestly tell you now that losing a child is a pain like no other.

Also, pray for my brother's other daughter, Jenna. These two girls were raised out in the country where they really didn't have alot of playmates as kids. Jamie and Jenna did everything together and usually went everywhere together. Jenna's going to find herself lost for a long, long time. And Jamie was her only sibling

I assume Jenna is younger? I cannot imagine what this poor family is feeling. Do they have a church/pastor to lean on?

Jenna is actually older. By about 2 years. Their mom was married before and Jenna and Jamie were the product of that relationship. But then the dad walked out on them and has never looked back. He hasn't seen either of the girls since they were tiny babies. He has paid child support tho, so my brother could never legally adopt them. But Rin married Jacki (the mom) when Jamie was just under 1 year old, so he's raised these girls all their lives.

They have a church/pastor, but not a good one. Jacki's sister called the pastor tonight and let him know that this had happened. She asked him to come out to the house and he told her to call the assistant pastor and let her come because he was occupied right now. I found that pretty unbelievable!!!

RevDWW 09-07-2007 10:46 PM

I know how devastated my wife and I would be if we lost one of our children. We'll certainly be lifting this family up in prayer.

Whaaaat? Surely he didn't do this........unless there was a very valid reason like he was with someone else in a horrible crisis.........other than that what could be as important as being with one of the flock in their desperate time of need.

Margies3 09-07-2007 10:55 PM

Because Walt is the Assistant Fire Chief here in our town, we have the scanner going all the time. So we heard the initial call come in. When they dispatched, they said that they had a car vs. semi with a DOA. Next thing we knew they were calling for Life Flight. So we assumed that the person that someone thought was DOA was not. As it turns out, the Life Flight was for the other girl.

About 1/2 hour after Life Flight took that girl to the hospital, the weather started to turn sour here. My 13 year old had gone to the football game at the high school, along with a bunch of his friends (and a couple of mom's). My nephew and another niece were at the high school for the game because they are in the marching band. All of the sudden the tornado siren went off and we heard them saying that their was a funnel cloud spotted SW of the town next to us (about 10 miles away). The police, fire and rescue took everyone at the game into the high school gym. Keith called me from there to let me know what was going on. I told him to sit tight and wait to see what was happening. Meantime, my other sister called me from the football stadium to tell me that she had just watched the funnel cloud pass over the football field, but that it had stayed up in the air, off of the ground.

About 5 minutes later the all clear was issued. And that's when Rin called and told me about Jamie and told me to go to my Mom's to tell her because he just couldn't do it. I had to be the one to tell my mom about my dad when he passed away 14 years ago. And I'll tell you what - this was 10 times harder to do!

Thanks for listening, guys. I appreciate your ears as well as your prayers.

revrandy 09-07-2007 10:59 PM

So Sorry to hear this...Will keep them & your family in prayer...it's very saddening...and a tremendous loss....

he was not with someone else. But it was late at night and he didn't want to come. Sherri is right. This is not the heart of a true pastor.

But right now, we can't dwell on this. We have to focus our attentions on getting Rin and Jacki and Jenna and all of the rest of us through the next several days and weeks to come.

One of Jamie's friends was at their house tonight. She had some pics on her phone that she emailed to me to put in the DVD for the funeral. We've been sending one line emails back and forth for an hour now. This young lady is hurting just as bad as the rest of us. :(

Death is not a good thing. And it's even worse because, as far as I knew, Jamie never knew the Lord. There is no comfort for that. None.

Hoovie 09-07-2007 11:03 PM

I am soooo very sorry to hear this, Margie, it seems so many of your family and friends have had terrible things happen.

I will be praying... God is able...

Falla39 09-07-2007 11:23 PM

My niece was killed tonight

A week ago I attended the viewing of the only son (29 yrs.) of a woman

who when she was sixteen yrs. old, and had just gotten her beginners license,

struck and killed our little five and a half yr. old daughter in 1970. There was

not an adult in the pickup with her, but her twelve and eight yr. old sisters

were. Too much power too soon placed into the hands of a child is dangerous!

I do want to say that God did a radical healing in me after a year had

passed. So desperate, I told God if He would give me peace of mind, one

day at a time, I would not question and might never understand, but I

would trust Him! That was a wise decision on my part. He is FAITHFUL!

This lady has suffered the loss of her husband, her dad and now her

only son. My heart grieves for her losses. She knows I have been with

her at the funeral home in each of her losses. She knows I know loss.

But I know the Comforter and He comforts her with the same comfort

I myself was comforted with, through this vessel. We really do have

this treasure in these earthen vessels. Last week she told me "I miss your

calls"! She gave me her new number. I can say from my heart I feel nothing

but love and compassion for this lady who was still a child when our terrible

tragedy happened. Her younger sister, who was eight at the time, flagged

me down last week and said B----- wanted to make sure you knew about

R-----. We can allow our Great God to mold and make us, even in tragedy

or we can become bitter and cold. We chose to let Him make us better.

May the LORD give comfort and peace to this family as only HE can do.

May HE wrap the Comforter of His Love around and shield them from the

blast of this tragedy, until the storm passes over, in Jesus Name!

Blessings,

Falla39

Margie, I am sorry beyond words...

When my 20 yr. old nephew passed, it was, and still is, a very painful thing. But know that we are here and God will bring strength as you need it...:kittyhug

I just read this, Margie. Words cannot tell you what I'm feeling for you and your family right now. I've lost a child, and I know that there is absolutely nothing as devastating.

Please know that we are praying for all of you.

Tina 09-08-2007 07:42 AM

Sis Margie, I am so sorry for your loss. I will be holding up the family in prayer.

Ferd 09-08-2007 07:57 AM

Margie, I am so sorry. we will be praying for Rin, Jackie and Jenna and of course the rest of your family. this is so tragic.

Coonskinner 09-08-2007 08:04 AM

Praying here, margie.

This hits pretty close to home for me.

Just yesterday evening, two of our young people, a brother and sister, were in a very serious accident, and thrown out of the car, the brother flying some forty feet through the air and landng on asphault.

We were at the hospital late last night and didn't get home until nearly 1:00 AM.

The doctors are saying it is a miracle they aren't both dead...

Life is such a fragile thing.

May the Lord be with you and yours.

I came pretty near to losing two kids that are very precious to me yesterday...

How sad.

MissBrattified 09-08-2007 08:16 AM

Oh my goodness, Margie! What a terrible loss!!!! I am praying for you and your family!

Sherri 09-08-2007 09:02 AM

Sis. Falla's post was so beautiful and timely. God help us to all have that kind of forgiving heart and trust in Him.

Oh, Margie, this is HORRIBLE! My heart hurts, not only for your brother and his family, but when I think of my own teenaged sons.............we are in much prayer here.

Which brother is it?

PS: I just read the rest of the thread and realized it's Rinny......

Darcie 09-08-2007 09:55 AM

My deepest sympathy for you and your family. May God be your strength...I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I hope when they are well you and their parents mention the word "seatbelt" to them. It is truly a miracle they are not dead. Usually people ejected from cars die. There are a few instances where a seat belt is bad but the vast majority of the time it can save your life or at least your brain from traumatic injury. I am amazed that with all the stats out there are still people who don't buckle up.

Blubayou 09-08-2007 12:21 PM

Margie- Just read this - I am so sorry for your family. I cannot imagine the loss you are suffering. I will be praying for you and your brother's family.
