Unusual Wedding
 

Eddie & I went to a wedding this afternoon, just as guests, which is unusual since I rarely get to sit by him as he's usually on the platform. This one was a gal from our church, but was performed by the groom's father. When the bridal party started to walk in, there was a matron of honor, then 7 groomsmen and no more bridesmaids!!! Three of the men stood on the side with the matron of honor, and the others stood on the other side. It was the weirdest thing I'd ever seen at a wedding. All the men walked down the aisle by themselves.

Knowing these two kids as I do, it's not surprising, as they are very non-traditional. But I just thought it was really funny. Is this a new trend? Anyone else seen this at weddings?????

It is acceptable if the bride has male friends that she wants to be in her wedding. They are called Bridesmen.

I have seen it before, but only one and not the complete absense of bridesmaids, so that is a bit different. Guess she's the kind that doesn't have girlfriends.

They were all men that Andrew asked to be his groomsmen. He said that he couldn't decide who to eliminate so he asked them all, but he didn't have a best man. Amanda only wanted her sister, so that's the way they did it. Very weird, but refreshing because it wasn't the same old stuff.

Well, that makes sense -- it's stupid to have people in your wedding just to match things up if they don't mean anything to you - lol!

There was tongues and interpretation at a wedding I went to in July...does that count as unusual? :D

Only to the ones that didn't have a clue what was going on.

I've been to wedding where that has happened before too.

I've also been to weddings where just the tongues were engaged - and you wanted to yell out "get a room"!

I went to wedding conducted by a well known TV evangelist. They had tongues and interpretation as well. The evangelist gave the interpretation and invited anyone who wanted to - to "give their life to Christ." After a moments silence, the evangelist announced that the Holy Spirit had just told him that someone in the congregation had just been "saved.' Then the wedding went on.

I hope the HS told the person too. :nah

This was my first foray into the world of modern tv evangelism and all. I suffered some culture shock. But my friend is married to this day and seems to be doing well. I just felt like the "things of God" were being manipulated. Just my impression and probably not a valid judgment at all.

I am happy for the bride with the bridesmen mentioned earlier. The thought that crossed my mind was that a lot of money was saved because it's usually easier and cheaper to outfit the guys than the girls in a wedding.

Well, the wedding party is suppose to pay for their own outfits, so that wouldn't really matter, but I assure you it was easier on the bride because guys don't care what the tux looks like and girls are so picky with their foofoo bridesmaid dresses.

I performed a wedding last month that had 1 groomsman and 7 bridesmaids.

Well, if we could have combined yours and the one yesterday, it would have been just right!
Also, in this wedding, the pastor stopped and asked if people in the audience wanted to stand and bless the couple. Several people stood and gave their blessing over the guy & gal; kind of like testimony service. I had never seen that before either!!!
