UPCI Pay-Per-View

How many here will be watching the pentecostal pay-per-view (GC) evening services at upci.org?

Will there be a play-by-play commentary?

I couldn't help myself, I laughed out loud when I read the title of the thread!
How about those church websites that do pay-per-view?

"GL" 09-13-2007 01:55 PM

Think of the money HQ could bring in if they decided to video the voting sessions this year!

HAHA! I thought this was a joke. They have to make their money somewhere to keep fighting the TV war. WOW! What a trip:telephone

silly Pentecostals breaking thier own rules...

I'm tempted to hook up an old-school "WebTV" and order the ppv through that just to make a point... lol

OR!! I could use my brother's Wii, that has an internet connection and goes through a tv... Or you could use an itelevision (or whatever its called)... or any tivo, really...

You'd probably pay the $100 just so you could clearly make out the faces of everyone who speaks out prior to the vote and walks out after.

:D

Or charge admission to the Exhibit halls and Services.

And in the services, you have a chance to GIVE MORE MONEY.

Fundraising has already begun for a few divisions.

What is laughable is the fact that they are going to blows over the use of TV when they literally broadcast on the internet...USING THE SAME EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY....bewildering.....

I love the disparity between what they say and what they do. They're not holding fast to anything eternal. They're just being stubborn because they enjoy slamming their brethren.

And then here I am slamming them for slamming others...

But you are not being hypocritical in your slamming.

Of course not... I'm being...uhm... candid. Maybe too candid. http://apostolicfriendsforum.com/ima...ons/icon11.gif

I consider myself part of that group (or at least I was for sure until recently... now I'm not so sure what I am), so please don't take offense at that, none was meant... lol

I took no offense with what you said. I honestly think you are being too kind in calling them "silly". There are other words which are more appropriate for doing things that you condemn others for doing.

CC1 09-13-2007 08:27 PM

Every time I think of GC I think of Jim Yohe's nickname for the Harvestime Musicfest night. He called it "Night of the Living Dead" because the median age of the singers had to be in the 70's.

I always thought that was hilarious. I think in the last year or two they have updated the roster of performers though and that is no longer the case.

I could see twenty bucks for the high speed broadband connection for the entire conference but one hundred bucks is just too much.

Does anybody know how much it costs them to stream broadband?

The schedule is posted twice in this thread. :D

chaotic_resolve 09-14-2007 06:31 PM

anything to make a buck . . .

if the tv resolution gets amended, which i think it will, to give HQ the creative rights to producing and marketing a commerical - think of how expensive it could be. based on these webcast rates, the commercials could get too pricey for anyone to want to use. especially considering the quality and content of the ads.

......I know some poor semi-homeless people who have access to a computer. How will this fulfill the scripture "and the gospel is preached to the poor"? As someone said, "It's anything to make a buck." Why have all of this ruckus over TV when they are putting this over the internet? This is so of inconsistent. I may get banned for saying this, but can anyone agree?

Well-spoken and right on the money (no pun intended).

I have it on good source that the "ads" prior to the services are $400.

I expect a bargain rate of $195 to be offerred.

We did such a great job with Media Missions and it pays so well for itself, I am sure this will be a huge cash cow.

(I don't expect it to pass CR, but I still think they have determined to sell X numbers of ads in the next 3 months)

Granted, the last GC I attended was 3 years ago . . . so hopefully it's gotten better. But the commercials I remember from then were TERRIBLE! The production, lighting, writing . . . just everything was awful. People reading from the scripts were so obvious. It was actually pretty funny.

again, anything to make a buck . . . I think $400 is a little overpriced ($195 sounds better), but it's PPH, so that's par for that bookstore. I lived in St. Louis and hated when friends or family visited and wanted to go to PPH. It is, or was when I was there, more expensive than most other christian bookstores.

you mentioned admission because you know there's a new required registration fee for anyone over 18, didn't you?
