Prison Ministry

We had an awesome time in service tonight. The Spirit was moving from the very beginning of service. After the alter service we baptized two inmates in Jesus Name.

RevDWW 04-12-2007 10:05 PM

The Lord has been blessing our services. Over the last 4 weeks (not including tonight) we've baptized 6 inmates. Tonight our attendance was a little down with only 28 inmates in services, but after the alter call we baptized 6 tonight.

God is surely merciful and gracious!

SDG 04-12-2007 10:07 PM

Awesome !!!!!!!!!! God is good ... ALL THE TIME.

Ron 04-12-2007 10:08 PM

That is great news RevDWW!
It must be very fulfilling to see the fruits of your labour!

Glad to hear a good report. Prison ministry is one of the most challenging and rewarding ministries ot be involved in, IMO.

There are 3 or 4 guys from our prison that have gotten out in the last 6 months and have been doing well in our Grace house homeless shelter. It is very rewarding to see God's effect in these men's lives.

We plant and water but God gives the increase!

We had another great service at Detention Center #3 last night.
Two men were baptized and several received the Holy Ghost.

One inmate told me he needed to talk to me after service. This is not unusual as I try to listen and give good Godly advice when I can. After service he came and told me, Bro. Dan I had a dream this morning, I was in church with you and your son and man was church a happening, people were really getting with it. It scared me a little as I have never seen anything like that. One old white haired man was stand on his seat worshiping, when he had a walker he should have been using.

He dreamed of a shock-a-mo service and had never been in one from what he related to me. What do you make of that?

He plans on attending POA with his wife and children when he gets out. Maybe I better start looking for a white haired man with a walker to seat by.....

Another inmate told me that he and some others had formed a prayer group and that the officials were letting them meet to pray. Ain't God Great!!!!!

:sshhh Reporting is not one of my strong-points. :killinme Got in a little warm water, it wasn't all that hot, for not getting names of those dunked on the baptismial record...we have baptized , conservatively, over fifty this year in this one facility. I have guys that have attend most every service for the last 2+ years. I see God making changes in their lives and attitudes.

The Lord is exactly what these men need (as well as all the rest of us) to take their lives in a totally different direction.

Prison ministry is near and dear to my heart... These are wonderful victories to take back these men who were so sold out to their past lives.

We don't have enough of a safety net for these guys. That is for sure. I think our current Grace house only has 12 or so beds.

There is a large orphanage no longer in use and for sale that would make a great training/housing center to get these guys back on there feet. Know anyone with a couple of Million to spare? :2cents

There are programs through HUD for example. I am in Texas and therefore know people here. Perhaps you could network and see about finding a grant writer there.

I am in the process of seeking Sec 202 funding (elderly housing) for our local assembly.

My unofficial bodyguard, Tyrone, got an overflowing of the Holy Ghost tonight. The Lord moved in a might way, two received the Holy Ghost for sure, with a couple of others touched but I did not get a chance to verify. We baptized 3 in the Wonderful, Matchless name of Jesus.

I'm not sure if I related the story about Tyrone.
He is a BIG guy and all muscle. He's been coming to service for the last two years. And over the last year has really been seeking the Lord.
Well last year a guard came in before a service and I asked him if something was up. He told me Bro. Dan you don't have anything to worry about as long as Tyrone is here, right Tyrone. Tyrone smiled and said Bro. Dan ain't no body gonna mess with you while I'm here! And he means it! So God's got my soul and Tyrone's got my back. How could I worry!

This just brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing the good report.

We can't wait for Cory to get back home from POA. His mom was telling me a few days ago how deeply he's been affected by the prison ministry there. She said he was never the kind of person who would be moved to tears by anything. She said she's seen a major change and that he's become much more tenderhearted and just cries when he's talking about the experience he's had there. I think it's been wonderful for him. He wants to get so many things started when he comes back. Maybe he can pass his ideas on to the rest of the people who want the Lord to move in a big way around here. BTW, I don't know if he's mentioned it to you-- but when he gets back home he has a job waiting on him. He's being appointed youth pastor. I don't think they could have chosen anyone better for the position.

I know basically nothing about prison ministry. Where do you baptise them?

We just have a basin of water and sprinkle them.................

Not....Just joking......:killinme:killinme:killinme

They have a Cattle tank that is outside. Last year they were only letting us baptize once a month. But God has given us favor and they started having one Prisoner, who is a Trustee, fill it every week. What's funny is, he fills it but he won't come to service. And he gets after me if I don't baptize somebody....:killinme I'm pray'n before he gets out, he'll get in the tank! Please pray for him, his name is Frank.

What if there were no cattle tank? What would you do then? I'm just curious - I've never really thought about it. I know people go into the jails and prisons and lives are changed, but I never really thought about the baptismal aspect.

If they did not have the facilities to baptize, I'd try to find someplace that would donate or discount a tank, then I would ask the Warden if I could supply a tank.

One ladies facility in Wisconsin and I think the Work Release facility would bring Prisoners to our church to be baptized. They come sit in service with a guard and then they'd get dunked afterward.

We needed more seats for our service so I found some folding chairs and then I contacted the Warden and asked if i could donate them. He allowed us to do that, but after a week or two they disappeared into other meeting rooms..... :nah I need to take him out to lunch and see what's up with that. :nod

I stress to the guys that go with me and anyone interested in prison ministry to make the prison staff your friends. Chat with them when possible. Bring a treat every once in awhile. It helps to have them on your side. Now they come to me with prayer requests.

Tina 10-05-2007 06:41 PM

You could have done like all other churches do when they send out chairs.. and put identifying marks on them with permanent markers.. then you could have wandered around from room to room -- looking at the bottom of all the chairs to find your ID marks.. saying... that one's mine... that one's mine.. and take them all back.

:lol (Sorry, I got carried away there) :killinme

They probably do have markings on them. But I gave them to the Prison so technically they can do with them whatever the want........... :hmmm :doh I guess we just need to :praying they start wanting them back in our Church room! :thumbsup

RevDWW 10-11-2007 10:10 PM

I had two interns with me tonight and I let one of them preach and the other testified. Both did outstanding jobs and the results were 3 baptized in the Spirit and two in the water!!!!!! The two that got baptized receive the Holy Ghost as they came out of the water!!!!!!!

All praise to Jesus!!!!!!!

We are having a harvest folks!!!!

Sherri 10-11-2007 10:13 PM

Awesome reports!!

One time we had a maximum security prisoner who wanted to be baptized, so we asked if he could be brought to church for it. They brought him on a weekday, shackled and in the orange jumpsuit with guards all around. But we got to baptize him anyway. It was very moving!

Re: Prison Ministry

We had our second service of the year at DC3 and we baptized four men tonight after having a very good altar service.
