IF Res 4 Does NOT Pass??
Many Cons have stated plainly that they will leave if the Res 4 passes. I am curious to know what those that are supporting Res 4 will do if it does not pass.
Will you go ahead and start advertising anyway? Will there be another "Resolution Run" at a future GC? Will you leave the Org? Will you back away and just let it go, allowing that the Org is settled in NOT having tv as a viable means of evangelizing? and lastly.......................... Will you get rid of the TV you have ready and waiting for a passed resolution? :) |
Matt, with all due respect, as someone who is not a part of the org, why do you care?

OF COURSE I WON'T GET RID OF MY TV....it's football season!:amen |

1. I have a son that is currently looking to license with the UPCI in a few years. 2. I have friends (ministry and saints) that I care about in the Org. 3. And I am on a discussion board that is very good about talking about UPC events. These reasons are enough for me to ask the question. |

In answer to your question, I don't know that the resolution passing is the "be all and end all" cure for what ails the org. Most of us wouldn't leave over this one issue. |
You know, I would hope all of those who are in the org who have T.V's would turn in their licences, and do what's right, but the reality of it is they have not done it yet. They sign when they get thier license and each year an affidavit that states they do not have a television in their home. So they need to repent and either get rid of their televisions or get out. "All liars shall have their place in the lake of fire." I don't care how good you can speak.
|
BTW, it won't pass unless some esteemed elder who has historically opposed the issue changes his mind and speaks for it.
|
Even though i'm on the "right' side of this issue I still want to voice my opinion. I hope that all the liberals that have TV in thier homes get out of the UPC. All those that have already lied on their AS need to LEAVE. In fact they shouldn't even be allowed to vote. If we had leadership with a backbone they would kick those liars out of the org.

What a simpleton statement. I suppose everyone who violates any of the "stongly disapproved of" issues needs to do the same? That would leave about two people from Kansas left in the UPC. |

I haven't heard anyone say they would leave if it did not pass. I think everyone knows that due to the emergence of technology they will be able to be on soon anyways without going against the manual.
If it fails this year it is only avoiding the inevitable for a short time. |

I'd be interested in meeting these "young men" who think pants are evil and advertising on TV is different than broadcasting 24/7 via the Internet, etc., etc., etc.... |

And also, the Manual does NOT Prohibit Video watching of wholesome entertainment. And since it does NOT define WHOLESOME, this is left to the minister's discretion. |

last time I read my affirmation statement it didn't say anything about TV's that I can remember. When I first got licensed nine years ago, I was honest when I signed my application....I didn't personally own one at the time....though the house I lived in at that time did have TV's they weren't mine nor was the house, so I was honest :nod |

Hey Salty,
The resolution is not gonna pass. Maybe next year you can present a new resolution that will bypass federal and state laws and grant a committee power to search and sieze televisions from all of those liars homes. |

If the Men elected allow it to pass, then it is the ORG itself that has a fault. But to call men liars that state that they do not agree with it, and then sign their name, is faulty logic. And you seem to be unread in the Manual anyway, as the Manual does not prohibit a TV if it is being used for video purposes. Would youlike me to post the bylaw here??? HELLO!!!!!!!!!................... |

Yes, and the manual is soooo much more important than God's holy Word. |

I've met tons of people who understand submission and who follow the standards even though they disagree with them... But I've yet to meet someone my age who actually agrees with/understands them... Especially ones like the pants issue... We grew up in a world where 99% of the women around us wore pants, we don't see pants as only a man's garmant, no matter how much it is drilled into our head in church... it just doesn't make sense in the society we live in... and most people my age realize that the Internet = tv in pretty much ever way and, if there is a difference, the internet is worse... |

SO if we pass reso #4 through, we're letting the truth die off? C'mon man. I happen to also know a large group of young men who want change. Not because we're "going Charasmatic" but we want change because we want CONSISTANCY in our teachings. The UPC, has a long list of don'ts, a even longer list of "grey areas" |

I repeatedly see these responses when a thread or post addresses issues within the UPC by a non upcer. |
