What would we change, IF we could...

Obviously the tread is open to all, but I'd like for UPC people to give their answers

If we could start over again or change things, what would we leave in the manual and what would we preach? What would we do away with OR what would we add...

for example:
I think we need to lose the whole facial hair issue. There is absolutley no Biblical reasoning for why we ask this of our men/ministers.

what else would we change???

Is facial hair mentioned in the manual?

Get everybody to really believe the New Birth message.

It's in there somewhere.....
Ministers have to be clean shaven..........
Someone went as far as to write a booklet about it

I would simply make all the rules this:

There is no number of rules anyone can follow that makes them holy, thus a rulebook is useless as an attempt to make a "holy church"... A holy church is a church that seeks God and follows Him both seperately as each individual person and collectively as a community...

I like it!

The organization appears to be a "Pastoral" one...I'd like to see the five-fold ministry in action, where all the ministries work together for the perfecting of the saints, not just the pastor.

I don't believe it is. Nor does it say anything about women wearing pants.

Wow, I'd have to answer that with, if we had to rewrite the Bible, what would we change. Does your question imply that the 20th Century movement in Pentecostalism fulfilled the will of God? Did men receive the revelation of oneness "Jesus only" doctrine in the will of God? Was the Apostolic movement born in offense? Yes to all that (with the exception of rewriting the Bible). I apologize you all who are asleep by the time I get to respond to your threads (L.A. p.s.t.),
but I will have to say there are many who gave their lives for their "Jesus only faith, could we possibly change that, NO. Were they wrong in defending Jesus' name to the militant Catholics in Mexico and Latin America? No, some gave their lives so there would be changes. That is the spirit that Christ brought to his people and they did not receive him for this very reason.
Today is almost over, but tomorrow, God willing, is a new day. We CAN change the things that offend and stop God's love from being demonstrated among his people. But only with God's love and Biblical wisdom; one person at a time. :hypercoffee

God bless your ministry, brother!
