Oklahoma Mens Conference

We had the Apostolic Man Conference this weekend in Ok,had a great time. Our own Deaconblues was the worship leader at the conference. He did a great job of getting everyone ready for the preaching at the services. He had a good mix of older hymns and new worship chorus I had never heard before, but were way cool and easy to sing along with.I was part of the Praise band and it was a challenge learning all of the new songs. We were blessed by Bro Paul Mooney's preaching and teaching,he always does a good job,we laughed alot even while being convicted by what he preached. One sermon he preached was "Being Future Proof"-talking about how you'll never be out of date with Acts 2:38,like the latest cell phone or computer is out of date as soon as you buy it.
I had a really nice time hanging out with Deaconblues and his keyboard player ,it would be nice to get together more often. If you're from OK and you did'nt go to the conference you missed it.

Glad you all had a great time......but in my 12+ years there I wondered this.....still do.....wonder if they will ever get beyond having the same 6-8 speakers over and over and over and over again...............oh well...........

Not looking forward to that time warp....

It's something I am going to have to deal with and not wanting to go back to the mentality of this...

but what will be will be... the Lord is opening sooo many doors for us...of recent... I can't deny that is where we need to be...

We had a great mens conference in Iowa this year. Was pleasantly surprised when Jeff Arnold was the speaker.

I've served as worship leader several times at Mens retreat and will testify that men, real men, can and do worship God.

You know... I'd been happy if they'd had Elmer Fudd preach the conference,I just needed to get away and have a good time and good church. As for the same speakers I don't care if they have the same 6-8 speakers at our conferences in Ok.The average saint does'nt get to go to every conference like you preachers do,we have jobs and have to work.

:hypercoffee Ouch!

I feel the same way...I usually don't really care who's speaking at Ladies' Conference...I just enjoy the relaxation, and the services just for girls, and the hotel room late night coffee and conversation with my friends.

Jeff really wanted to go. I hope he gets to go next year. He could've used a break, too.

Although it is true that Ok usually keeps the same pool of speakers coming back...I don't know why IAM doesn't see that this is indicative of the entire Apostolic movement as a whole:

BOTT--same group for decades pretty much
PSR/ARK/AMC--same group of speakers on rotation pretty much
Gen Conf--same group pretty much every year or so
All other district events around the states--same group pretty much every year or so

It is not unusual to see the

....Coon/Mangun/Huntley/Arnold/Haney/Cunningham/Mooney/Jones/Stoneking/Godair/Foster/Morton/Keyes/Wilson/Booker/White (just for steadfast)...

pool used in regular intervals across the board.

Although there is a great wealth of good speakers never heard from on the conference circuit, who can blame the committees for going after a recognized circuit rider!

I have laughed about this with my wife...but you know as well as I do that a recognized name brings the wanted crowd...and a crowd brings the needed offering!

BTW, same thing happens among every group...the Charismatics have their favorite circuit riders as well...

revrandy 09-20-2007 09:28 AM

This is all true...

LandMark..Same Speakers...
School of Prophets...Same Speakers....
No Limits..Same Speakers...

must be indicative of our Human Nature...

Safety and familiarity....

Sister Alvear 09-20-2007 10:19 AM

and ultra cons too...looks like we would like to learn from others...one of those name brands almost split our work a few years ago in fact we did have several churches leave...
I personally think those that are not so popular pray more and feel the weight of the services than those who have their ready made preached over and over sermons... and this is not to discredit any certain person just speaking in general terms...
