For all the Scrooges out there

98 shopping days
left in this season......

The first Black Friday (Day after Thanksgiving) Shopping Ad is already on the net.

Some of you need some Holiday Spirit to counter the grumbley mumbley threads we see.

(Rico, this thread is not for you, we know you don't do HoHo Time)

I used to brave black Friday for some good deals but it evolved into mostly gimmicks with great deals but on such a limited qty. of items that you would have to pick out what you want most then show up at that store at 4 am to wait in line.

I am too old for that!!!! I do most of my shopping online anyway.

FYI - I was in Nashville, TN over the past weekend and was at the Rivergate Mall. A new Christian Book Store is there and will be there through Christmas holiday. Each book in the store is $5 - novels, Bibles, reference, study books, etc. Some nice books for gifts in case some of y'all are around that area!

Have already seen some Christmas stuff coming out on the shelves amidst the Halloween and Thanksgiving!

AGH!

I don't preach against it but we don't celebrate it all that much either. We don't decorate our house, or have or tree, or do any of that other pagan nonsense but, we'll get together with the family and have good fellowship. Lot's of food and fun with the family.

BTW, I know lots of Con's that celebrate Christmas. The reason is this. Dec 25 started out as pagan holiday (winter solstice festival) but the Christians took that day away from them to celebrate it as the birth day of Jesus. It's a little crazy to think that Jesus was actually born on this day but Christmas is celebrated with good intentions. As far as the fat man in red goes, we have nothin' to do with that lie.

Truthseeker 09-19-2007 04:45 PM

I wouldn't say christians took the day away from them but it was more of pagans wanting to be christians but wanted to continue with their pagan worship of the sun god by saying it was to celebrate Jesus birth.

For those who do have fun during the season, we soon will have Christmas smileys available. Choose Thread Tools, and check off Ignore this thread.

Also for the tightwads here, Tina is good at posting some great bargains. I don't worship a tree indoors, but I enjoy fun and food with family and we do open gifts on Dec 24........

TS, I think UltraCon should voluntarily drop the use of the 'ultra' prefix. His acceptance of a well documented pagan-based celebration ritual and his reply containing only a reference to CON (bolded above), not UltraCon, makes his screen name more of an ambition than a reality.

is there anyone who is willing to second this motion?....:hypercoffee

Get back on topic, we're suppose to be talking about Christmas. BTW there are many who you'd say are UltraCons that celebrate Christmas.

I'll second it...

Does that mean that I get to be an ultracon? :)

We'd love to have you as an UltraCon, I can send you a list of requirements if you wish.

P.S. You'll need to get out all of your long sleeve shirts.

:)

They are hanging right next to me on the rack right now. :)

See... I must have misunderstood... I thought that not doing Christmas was sufficient requirement for being an ultracon. :)

Perhaps they should work on taking away Samhain next.
After that Beltane would be another good one.
Imbolic would be another good one as well.

That is a good starting list.
Isn't this exciting? :)
