Clint Brown. Is this for real? And what, if anything would he be doing there?

Nahum 09-24-2007 07:36 PM

As always, I have to use Google to keep up with you worldly posters. http://apostolicfriendsforum.com/ima...ons/icon12.gif S.H. are you asking if this guy is going to be at GC? He appears to pastor a church boasting of 6K+ in attendance in Orlando.

Never heard of him before, myself. Not saying that to slam the guy- I just don't get out much.

Scott Hutchinson 09-24-2007 07:43 PM

Is Cohen Reckhart preaching at the GC ?

Thad has stated in the TAB that he would be there!

Brown has a boatload of scandal http://www.wftv.com/news/4076756/detail.html

and http://www.religionnewsblog.com/1088...wn-hit-by-suit

But the UPC and other Pentecostal groups embrace his P&L music.

You know that rankles a little bit. My kids are getting in for free at least, but what if this was in my town and I wanted to invite some friends to "church?" $35 dollars at the door?

Puts a whole new light on the phrase "Paying the price".

chseeads 09-24-2007 09:09 PM

Wow....all this time, I have heard of Clint Brown and all, but all this time I thought for some reason he was a black dude.....LOL

I don't know if they are still going to do this or not -- or how it would even be possible -- but when they first discussed this on the General Board, they said they would provide a "Visitor's Pass."

I am not sure how you can tell who is truly a "visitor."

They probably changed this like they did their original ruling that ministers would only get into one business session without paying.

The solution is obvious - just let the facial hair start to grow out now each year before conference. Then you can be a "visitor" and avoid the poll tax.

I realize you are being tongue-in-cheek, but the fact is that there a growing number of UPC congregations that allow facial hair, as well as cut hair and makeup on women. That's why I'm not sure how they will determine who is actually a "visitor."

Thanks for the break, KP. I thought I was replying to a Coonskinner post. Your new avatar kind of melted into my mind and I just glossed over everything else.

I didn't mean to come across wise cracking like that to you. Of course, CS would rightly thump me for it too, but he and I have exchanged before. I didn't mean to assume such an air of familiarity with you. Yet, I guess. :)

Well, I must say that you have appropriately groveled at the feet of the austere and esteemed bishop! That is as it should be as the honored bishop is a man offering no quarter for tom foolery or shenanigans of any sort. In fact, I believe that there was a video posted here at one time that gave full evidence of the severity of his nature!

Be blessed in your wisdom and never again cross into the realm of frivolity and superfluity except you are specifically bade come by the supreme potentate!

Bro...facial hair is not nor has it ever been a holiness issue with mainstream Apostolics.

We have had numerous general board members with mustaches..

I have pictures of this.....in the 50's and 60'
