It is NOT cold out here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I certainly sympathize with those who feel their need to leave the UPC but the good news is many have made it without them forever. Good things are happening now outside the domain of the UPC in the ranks of conservatives namely:
1. The AMC meeting great meeting for conservative preachers and their families.
2. The IAM foundation a clearinghouse to send mission dollars without it being plundered by organizational officials.
3. THe Apostolic Compass a magazine for conservative preachers and churches.
4. Conferences-camps-meetings galore across this nation where hosted by conservative men with conservative men preaching.
Just to name o few. NOT COLD AT ALL!!!!!!!!

tv1a 10-01-2007 09:38 PM

Great sales pitch. Can't say I didn't see this one coming.

Missed it, did ya?

SDG 10-01-2007 09:53 PM

This is one of those UC UPCI bashing threads isn't it? No bitterness here.

SDG 10-01-2007 09:55 PM

The inference to be made here folks is that FMD officials plunder your money.

This will probably come as a shock to you.

Conservative preachers support conservative missionaries.

Not one dollar to TBN, ORU or J. Swaggart.

Are we living in a vacuum??? ... Most of us here know what this is a reference to ...

The Elder insinuates that other officials outside of IAM plunder the funds ....

Maybe this will help ...

plunder
verb To rob of goods by force, especially in time of war: depredate, despoil, havoc, loot, pillage, ransack, rape, ravage, sack 2, spoliate, strip

Dan,

Considered in light of the FMD overhead, a case might be made for this word usage to be accurate. You see, 100% of every dollar passing through the IAM foundation goes to the designated ministry. Some, including the men who started the IAM foundation, saw the overhead as unnecessary plundering of contributed funds.

Digging4Truth 10-02-2007 07:20 AM

Goodness gracious sakes alive...

With the exception of a few posts....what a thread of off the hip potshots.

Brother Epley and I don't always see eye to eye on things but there wasn't anything wrong with his post and nor was it bashing.

He was just saying that, for those who do choose move on both now and any other time, there is life beyond the UPC.

Amazing...

Not to down what you are saying but I notice how you emphasize the men,men men thing. The UPC may not be perfact but at least they are more understanding when it comes to people who were divorced before they came to Jesus and don't deny women who are submitted ministry.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLL LLLLLLLLLL??????

UltraCon 10-02-2007 07:40 AM

How is it that the UC's that want to leave are bitter? I guess maybe you libs don't read your own post. The main bitterness I read comes from the Lib post. Maybe nobody read the "Goodbye Kansas Preacher" thread, and we're bitter? The fact is that there is a large overhead with the FMD, we've been using IAM for a while for that very reason. Why do I want to put money in an officals pocket when I can put 100% in the missionary pocket? Also, we've been going to AMC for a while, we also take our kids to heritage. this will be an easy transition for us.

(You edited your post so I don't have your last comment)

It is an opinion of the circumstances.

I have sought out ways to send monies directly to missionaries because of my disdain with the amount of monies given to missionaries that never make it past Missouri.

It has been discussed on here (or on any number of AFF predecessors.)

I think that a clearinghouse that gets money to missionaries is a really great idea and one that is far more efficient than what is currently in place.

To feel this way and express that opinion isn't a potshot... At least no in my opinion.

One thing is to think it's more efficient and the other is view it as ROBBING.

There was another set of definitions available for the term plunder... you didn't list those.

Quote:

2 : to make extensive use of as if by plundering : use or use up wrongfully <plunder the land>
I think this is the one most fitting for what Brother Epley was saying... but it was left out.

Steve Epley 10-02-2007 07:58 AM

I just said what I meant without commentary. I stand behind my statement. Actually it was not meant as a slam but facts are facts. The IAM does NOT take ONE penny out of designated money to missionaries that is the difference. Plundering might have been too strong of a word so supply the word for me Dan?? I send $100 to missionary X and he only gets $75 of it or less splain what that is?
