Mom and Dad Banned From the Class Room?

What do you think?

"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

The bills signed by Schwarzenegger include SB777, which bans anything in public schools that could be interpreted as negative toward homosexuality, bisexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices.

There are no similar protections for students with traditional or conservative lifestyles and beliefs, however.

"SB 777 will result in reverse discrimination against students with religious and traditional family values," said Meredith Turney, legislative liaison for Capitol Resource Institute. "These students have lost their voice as the direct result of Gov. Schwarzenegger's unbelievable decision. The terms 'mom and dad' or 'husband and wife' could promote discrimination against homosexuals if a same-sex couple is not also featured.

CCF noted that now on a banned list will be any text, reference or teaching aid that portrays marriage as only between a man and woman, materials that say people are born male or female (and not in between), sources that fail to include a variety of transsexual, bisexual and homosexual historical figures, and sex education materials that fail to offer the option of sex changes.

Further, homecoming kings now can be either male or female – as can homecoming queens, and students, whether male or female, must be allowed to use the restroom and locker room corresponding to the sex with which they choose to identify.

Thomasson said Schwarzenegger also signed AB14, which prohibits state funding for any program that does not support a range of alternative sexual practices, including state-funded social services run by churches.
Affected will be day cares, preschool or after-school programs, food and housing programs, senior services, anti-gang efforts, jobs programs and others.

Thomasson said it also forces every hospital in California – even private, religious hospitals – to adopt policies in support of transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality and opens up nonprofit organizations to lawsuits if they exclude members that engage in homosexual, bisexual, or transsexual conduct.

That was exactly what I was getting at on the thread I began about The danger of accepting the GLB agenda against traditional marriages and families. It affects every area of our society.

I agree. That would definitely be what I would do if I was in an area that had passed legislation like that.

As much of a challenge as it is at times to be a homeschooling family, I am SO thankful that my children are no longer in public schools!!

Michael The Disciple 10-14-2007 09:55 PM

Is this already law or is it just going through the process?

Praxeas 10-15-2007 12:20 AM

The Govenator signed it into law

'Mom' and 'Dad' banished by California

Schwarzenegger signs law outlawing terms perceived as negative to 'gays'

"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" effectively have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

Can you believe this in America?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH CALIFORNIA????

It's probably only a matter of time before it is in the south also.

Praxeas 10-16-2007 02:32 PM

Bump

MrsMcD 10-16-2007 02:35 PM

The other thread was shorter and straight to the point. I usually don't read through longer post. ;)

As I said on the other thread, I'm glad it isn't in the south yet.

I think folks need to wake up to where this country is heading.

Does Sodom and Gorrmah ring any bells?

We really need to pray for our nation!

And California!!

I find this whole thing absolutely astounding. I had been following this legislation, and never really thought they would pass it. I was wrong.

I was talking with a lady who lives in California, and she has no idea about it!

What is scary, is that the curriculum companies look at states like California to determine how they create their curriculum books. Even if they don't pass this in other states, the school books will probably bring it in.

Thank God for homeschooling!

I just hope parents across the country wake up.....but I wonder how many will?

Ferd 10-18-2007 06:37 AM

Every 14 year old boy in California, just decided they needed to use the girls locker room.

AmazingGrace 10-18-2007 06:37 AM

I will make the comment due to the last post and state that my children do go to public school and in a very large area... They arent taught these things.. I do work in the schools (have 3 kids work weekly in all 3 schools) and these things are not being taught in our schools!!! Thank God.. and more than that,,, if you well... as the scripture says train up a child.. I do not worry about my kids. They know the way that is right and if they see something being taught that is wrong they let me know immediately and we do what possible to remedy this.

My 4th graders class has prayer in the classroom daily... yep.. may be against the law may not be but they have it because her teacher believes in it and says yall can have your moment of silence I choose to pray and any who want to pray with her are welcome to and the entire class joins around her desk and they take prayer requests every morning and I can say my kids have been in 8 different schools in the past 11 yrs and every one of them has had prayer in their classrooms usually on a daily basis but if not at least a few times...

My other daughter... in her health class they began teaching "female health issues" the other day and the teachers all made a point to say this is something that SHOULD NOT happen unless you are married and TO A MAN!!! Yep they may get roasted to the core for that but it was said and I was there... heard it with my own 2 ears....

My sons school... bible study held in the bandroom every morning... by an apostolic.. teaching apostolic doctrine in a school of oh 4000 or so... These kids are excited about what God is doing.. and its not just a little study either... about 200+ there on mondays and then others on the other days...

I am a firm believer in schooling my children right... They are doing wonderful and I know God is with them and as long as they go portraying the light that is in them... They will be just fine... all that to say... I do support homeschooling and refuse to bash anyone or anything for doing this but I also believe kids can do just fine in public school too if rooted and grounded in their belief...

Thanks for sharing. My son is in fifth grade in public school and it is a great public school also. I couldn't see anything such as has been described happen at his school. All his teachers are Christians. We have prayer before PTO's, etc.

Exactly and I know I kind of took this in another direction and didnt really mean to I just didnt want this to be a thread tearing apart all public schools because even in the Dallas area... there are still good schools...
