Spring Tabernacle to Change Name!!!

If all goes well it will be..............

Champion Life Center.

They want it to be more of a regional church so many will visit. With the recent change to the son James being Pastor now they feel it might be time to change the name too. It is not written in stone, but could be settled very soon.

Do you all like that name??

Joseph Miller 11-03-2007 01:11 PM

I do like the name.

Great, anything that might make someone call a church a church is going to scare away the public. Everything is becoming a "Center" now...

BTW our church has "center" in the name and I have disliked that for 18 yrs.

I like the word 'Center' to be in the name. It seems that it is saying, Champion Life Center is the place where Champions are. We are the church not the building...the building is the 'Center' of where the church meets. If you do not like the name 'Center' in the name of your assembly then change it or lobby to change it.

True, I like the name center. We changed our church name from 1st UPC to Word Alive Revival Center. I think it is more inviting to the general public. For the new people in our community looking for a church it doesn't scare them off. Once they come inside and the service begins they realize they are in a pentecostal service, but most find that they like it and actually stay and become a part of the church. If the name pentecostal was on the sign they may not have ever came.

I will now :runhills because I know a lot of people don't share the same opinion.

JM, I agree it is shall we say more user friendly to add words like 'center' to the name instead of other things. I attended a church that was Apostolic Bible Church. In the area of the county I live Apostolic is strickly a spanish thing. That church has a spanish ministry per se but not the same thing. So after having the ABC name for 30 yrs they change it to New Life Bible Church. It is a bit more user friendly. I told them that they should have named it New Life Community Center, but they would not have fulfilled the community part to well..lol.

Here in Nashville we stuck to the basics and settled for just two words in our church name. "Christ" and "Church"! LOL!!!

I don't have a problem with these different names for churches but the whole "Champion" thing doesn't appeal to me. I didn't like the COC name and I don't lke this proposed one for Spring Tabernacle. Just my personal taste. Doesn't make them bad or wrong!

Just FYI- Church of Champions is so named because it is physically located in the Champions area of NW Houston. Spring is 25-30 miles from that area.

Spring is the area where Jabo Green's church is... pretty much between Klein and Conroe School districts on I45.

I think Spring Tabernacle is Jabo Green's church. They just built a new one a couple of years ago. They used the old church for a spanish church.

Is the church affiliating itself in any way with Champions Centre in Bellevue, WA.? I have friends in the Spring church and in the Bellevue one.

Thanks for the heads up. That explains the goofy COC name but why would a church in Spring use "Champions"? Isn't that a different area?
