It's Peanut Brittle Time!!!

Yes, it's that time of year. And for those who want to know, I'm no longer a peanut brittle maker virgin!! For the first time ever, I made peanut brittle tonight!

For those of you who want to order, they are $1.50 per patty, and shipping is actual cost. I accept PayPal or check by mail (cause I know you all are honest and don't write bad checks!). For those paying by PayPal, the fees I'll be charged will be charged to you.....I'm not sure the percentage yet (but if anyone knows, post it here). I also cannot guarantee that there will be no breakage. It's peanut brittle for a reason! But those who ordered last year can testify that I pack them well.

And I won't get orders mixed up this time! LOL!

PM me with any orders. I'll let you know the total when I have them shipped.

It varies. There is a flat per transaction fee and a percentage of what is paid based on the method of payment. So there isn't one pat answer for this.

That's not making it easy for me! LOL!

So what should I do for those paying with PP, charge like 5% or something? Not sure what to do in this situation.

You could do that and refund any difference as you can give refunds back via PayPal. Or, those that didn't care about a few pennies could let you keep any extra and donate it to the church.

Their site says the fees are 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

Sarge 11-06-2007 09:29 PM

Those rates are for a premiere or business account. It's more if it is a personal one.

I have a premiere account.

So I'll add like 2.5% then, I suppose.

And for those who pay this way, if it's ok, I'll donate any extra to the church. This fundraiser is for the ladies auxillary.

Thanks.

Digging4Truth 11-07-2007 06:39 AM

We used to make 800-1200 patties per week this time of year.

They mentioned the other day that they are going to do it again this year.

Man oh man.

:)

AmazingGrace 11-07-2007 07:05 AM

Yeah our church makes it too... about 500 patties a week right now and right before christmas it doubles... They have them sold before they are even done so its pretty good little fundraiser. I was talking to the lady that heads it up and she said its really to the point that they dont have to sell outside of the church anymore as the church itself is large enough now they have trouble keeping up with just the inside orders. But the local schools have been calling and begging them to make it so they are... I guess after 45 yrs of making it it just becomes natural for them to do it every yr no matter if they try to quit or not.

Tina 11-07-2007 07:20 AM

I am so glad we don't do peanut brittle at my church. I had enough of the peanut brittle making when I was a kid at the church I grew up in.

Hoovie 11-07-2007 07:22 AM

HO, let me suggest $1.50 per patty then a flat shipping and trasaction fee. People like to keep things simple.

Like $5.00 s&h no matter how you pay up to 12 patties then add .25 per patty on orders above 12.

Just a thought while I fomulate an order, and weigh the possibility of being poisoned by someone I have never met.... except by the WWW

We work in 2 hour intervals and make 120 patties at a time.

It's constant work, that's for sure!

I tried that last year and depending on location, either I was very short or they greatly overpaid.

However, if this were Ebay, that's what I'd do.....LOL!

PM me your address. I'll mail them either Monday or Tuesday.

I was going to mail out on Friday but couldn't get any patties until Friday night! So I picked up 40 of them, but, including yours, I already have 34 gone!

But they make them every Tuesday and Thursday, and will until almost Christmastime.

I was already giving myself a pep talk...."it's okay if it is green and red, it probably taste just as good....and people won't mind receiving it as a gift.....Hopefully! Thank God I just read this, I can now go relax :donuts.

We used to make like 1000 packages of pb a week. I remember being so careful not to break those patties! They had to be perfect patties unbroken. One day we sold a man a package of pb and a little while later we see him walking down the hall hitting that pb bag up against the stair railing! We could not believe it after all we did to make sure it didn't break. It was really quite funny.

You are bad!!!

For those who ordered, I went to mail them on Monday and guess what? The PO was closed for Veteran's Day!!!!

Well, I had school during the day on Tuesday and today, and worked last night and tonight, so I'm mailing them tomorrow or Friday (definitely Friday, cause after that I'm busy with hunting!).

I'll PM those of you with your totals and how to pay me. Thanks again for your support.

WalMart sells it broken! And it's expensive and has preservatives!!

Sadly, I cannot guarantee unbroken peanut brittle, but I package it well so it isn't dust when it arrives!!
