Las Vegas?
....Does anyone out there know of a good 'Jesus name', 'oneness' apostolic church in Las Vegas?....perferably a large church....does not have to be UPCI....
|
Maybe the better question is, "Where is the best Poker Room?"

I thought K.C. pastored there, at least for a while. He's listed now as being in TX again at UPCI.org. Stand by the Bellagio fountains and pretend to "drop" your wallet in front of passers-by. You'll meet a lot of interesting people that way who you can then invite to church. |
There is a very large PAW church in Las Vegas that has 5000 members.
I forget the name of the church but the Pastor's name is Rev. House we sang on a program where he spoke about 7 years ago or so. I know his cousin too. The only thing, they have no standard so if you are looking for a traditiona Pentecostal church this is not the one for you :ursofunny |
We'll be there for a conference next weekend! (Held at the Venetian hotel.)
"Whhhoooooo are you. OOoo oo OOoo oo." |
Venetian...one of the nicer hotels. Have you visited the Wynn yet? Take a stop on over....worth the stroll.
|
it is a nice hotel
The WYNN though is a MUST SEE!!! that hotel is unbelievable! you have got to eat at their buffet or else !!! |
We've seen it already, but not been inside. We spent a lot of time at Ceasers, the Mirage, and of the course the MGM Grand were we spent 5 days. Oh yes, and the Excalibur.
(We personally like the downtown area much more then the strip.) |

they do have a nice outlet mall in between downtown and the strip though. you have got to see the WYNN. if you don't you don't have the holy ghost:ursofunny |

There is actually a conservative Oneness Church in Las Vegas... Bro. Epley preaches there some as does Old Paths. I just cannot remember the pastor's name. Perhaps if you send a private message to one of them they can give you the scoop on the church name and the pastor. I believe the pastor's name is Dallas Medford.

Bro Medford's church is 10 miles West of Downtown on a Street named Lindell. (Near Charleston and Jones Blvd) The ALJC church is in the NorthEast about 6 miles from Downtown (last I knew) There is a UPC church meeting about 1 mile East of Sahara Hotel. The Pastor is David Sparks. There are others. I am not privy of a PAW church of 5000 there. There was an Spanish Apostolic church of about 600 in North Las Vegas I believe. |

The Apostolic Church of Las Vegas is pastored by Elder Steve Stolfus on Lindel it was founded by Elder Dallas Mefford a very good church about 300 folks. I have preached there more than once.

I posted a picture of a white church. I don't know why the color of the building makes a difference. Whether its a brown, white or brick building shouldn't make a difference. But, to each his own.

I think crazyjoe was getting more at the culture angle of things rather than expressing any latent racism as another poster seemed to imply. I preached in a small "all black" PAW church once and was told by one of the men after the service that he didn't "appreciate white boys coming down to [neighborhood]." It was made quite clear that the pastor had made a "mistake" in inviting a "white boy." Lesson learned: there's all types of racism. But even in a welcoming environment there are cultural nuances that exist in many places that make a person feel out of place. Many times these things are described as being "black," "white," "Latin" or "Asian" or whatever. The fact that most "white" Apostolic churches have historically copied aspects of "black" churches and culture adds a layer of complexity to these generalizations. In looking for a church to attend or visit you want a good fit; especially if you have loved ones who are vulnerable and sensitive about the whole church experience. |
I agree. I don't think crazyjoe was trying to be mean, I believe everyone wants to go where you feel comfortable in worship. It is just like some saints would rather go to a church that sings southern gospel songs instead of praise and worship in thier services. A "good fit" as the last poster said. Personally, I enjoy having all races represented, But....that would be in a perfect world...
|
I have NEVER looked for a church based on it's cultural make-up, in fact, it never has crossed my mind, nope, I don't get it at all.
Bro Epley, I appreciate you, although we stand eye to eye, (he he) I could never fill your shoes!!! |

Remember bro, I am a hispanic living in New Brunswick, if anyone has had the opportunity to experience racism it is I, yet, thankfully I have not while I have been here. (In the church that is) |
I used to visit quite regularly Bishop Boyd's church in Nashville when we lived in the area particularly on Sunday nite after we got out. He was a prince of preachers. When I would come in he would tell them here comes my 'full-blood brother' and smile real big. I have never understood preacher or saint with racial prejudices from any side. The NEW BIRTH makes all races my brother. ONLY ONE race in Christ and that is the chosen-royal generation and nation.
|
...thank you pelathais and winklebottom for understanding.... I'm sorry I'm not as perfect as monkeyman and epley....I don't have a predjudice or racist bone in my body...just looking for a place where I would be comfortable....there are reasons that certain churches are 50-99% the same racial background....racism and predjudice have nothing to do with the lack of racial diversity....
|
some people enjoy stirring things up on these threads....good luck in your search
