Anyone Know Where Will Cohron is today?

Anyone know where Will Cohron from Jacksonville, Florida is today?

I just pulled a sermon of his off the internet.

It is from 1976 because he mentions the year.

It is titled: "Standing till the king comes"

I know Will Cohron left his wife back in the late "70's" or "80's".

I remember being at his church in 1976 and I have a sermon of my dad from 1976 at his church.

We were there in the summer of 1976.

I have started reaching out to some of my fathers friends and I wanted to reach out to Bro Cohron if he is still around...

There are so many great sermons on this site:

If anyone wants the link to his sermon here it is: click down and you will find his name highlighted:

Last time I saw her was 1976.

Last time I say Will Cohron was 1978 at my dads funeral.

Will Cohron's son, Anthony, now has a church in Jacksonville. From what I understand, Shirley still goes to her son's church, but she is out of town a lot visiting her daughter. (Oklahoma I think) ?? If my memory serves me right, Will is doing construction work so he's gone a lot.

Anthony's in-laws, the McCauslands, are AWESOME evangelists....they've been here often. From the way they talk, Anthony and his wife are working day and night trying to rebuild that church.

Yes, Will Cohron was an incredible preacher. He was the campmeeting speaker the first year I went to youth camp. He definitely inspired this 11-year old kid!

He inspired me as well. I just get so confused how these men can make these mistakes and leave such wonderful women behind...

I grew up in Florida, so I heard ALL KINDS of stories about what she went through with him.

She still plays the organ at her son's church, so at least she's hanging in there. Not having traveled in her shoes, I can't say what I would do at this point in life.

If his son has a website I would love to take a look. I have not been able to locate it on the internet...

I doubt they have one...it's a pretty small church. His wife was on Everyone's Connected, but I stopped logging on there so I'm not sure if she still is.

I'll email his MIL and see she has any info on them.

I rededicated my life and accepted my call to preach at the Fort Worth General conference youth service. Will Cohron was the speaker and Sis. Loretta Earl was the special singer. She sang "My God is Good to Me" and then Bro. Cohron preached a message titled "Who Will Be Your Aaron?" He will always have a special place in my heart.:santathumb

I was 11 and I remember my dad told my Brother and Sister you have to take Nathan with you.

My younger brother stayed with Mom and dad.

The service has been flashing in my mind.

Thanks for bringing it back.

Do you have a recording of the service?

Nathan

The person who won me to Pentecost went back to that church shortly afterward just in time to experience one of worst situations you could imagine in terms of church fall-out. That was 1982, WC is fortunate he didn’t end up doing time.

Doing time for what?

HangingOut 11-27-2007 12:46 PM

I have no idea how public any that is, so I would not post it here.

Either way he messed up his life with a wonderful lady.

I would just like to look him up as he was a close friend of dads...

I wasn't born at the time.

HangingOut 11-27-2007 12:59 PM

I understand, but his actions never expressed any remorse for causing a fairly large congregation to fragment and than starting another church in that city with saints that where just as dilusional. Sorry, but this affected people that where the closest to me when I came into this movement and unfortunately I read official documentation way back then concerning the situation.

HangingOut,

I understand the pain of old wounds but certainly a man, even one who made gross error, deserves friends. I don't believe Nathan is looking to embrace the error, only the man.

The moral of the story is that even great men are susceptible to error and to failing and falling. We should, therefore, mind our relationship and cleave tenaciously to the grace that has been given us!

Exactly, I would like to tell Will Cohron just what he meant to my dad in tough times in the 1970's.

I do know that the sermon I am hearing as I am typing this post.

If Will Cohron would head his own words he could find restoration.

I pray for him...

I had the same experience with a great preacher in the UPC as well. I just pray for them to find their way.

I can't believe how many men of over the years have gone the same road.

I pray for them all....

My dad would weep the first minute of his breath if he were raised from the dead today.

Bro. Jones, this is so true!

One of my greatest influences growing up wound up leaving the truth and embracing a immoral lifestyle. He continues in that to this day, completely delusional about what the state of his soul is.

Many that have known him in times past are completely appalled by him, and want nothing to do with him. While I could probably not spend a lot of time with him on regular basis, I cannot find it in my heart to turn my back on him.

Loving him and being thankful for the positive influence that he had on my life at a crucial age, is not the same thing as loving or accepting his lifestyle. He will always be someone my heart is happy to see.

HangingOut 11-27-2007 02:56 PM

Sorry for sounding bitter. This was just different in that as far as I know today, the man never made things right with anyone. It is really his burden to do so.

I do believe we need to remember folks in years gone by. Even if they are not ministers.

I have been praying and looking on the internet for folks.

Once I know they are still alive.

I have started to pray for these folks....

I know Bro Cohron needs to take action.

I just pray all of his friends from years past did not just up and run.

I pray anyone of them would have tried to talk with him...

During the time that Will Cohron had his problems; it was a time when people were more or less ostrasized, and alienated from anyone they knew or loved. People were afraid to be connected in any way. It was this way with my situation.

There are times also that God tells people that the person they want to confront is not receptive to hearing this from anyone. That is the case with some. At that point all you can do is pray.

The truth is...people don't really mean to be unkind but they are caught up in their own world and don't want to be 'uncomfortable'. Fair weather friends are easy to find...it is the bad weather friends that are true friends and will stick by you to the end. I have some of these and I am thankful.
