He is right that we don't have a quote of anyone saying "I baptize you in the name of the Father Son & Holy Spirit"... However there is no quote of what was said at all - ever. We can only hypothesize What was meant by "in Jesus name" and Matt 28:19, when it comes to the actual words to be spoken.

My favorite answer to the question of why baptize in Jesus name is this.... Who died on Calvary? Who did the redemptive work for mankind? Then you answer that question, answer this one... who did God give a name above every name?

Philippians 2:9-11
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Who died? Jesus

Whose name is highly exalted above all other names? The name of Jesus!

Then you add this scripture

Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

How can you argue any further? Baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus is the name under which there is authority, and power. Jesus is the one who suffered, died, and took sin captive for all mankind!

Why would you not WANT to be baptized in anything else than the name that is above all names, JESUS!

I've never had a problem with Jesus Name Baptism.

I figured that since Christ did all the hard work for my salvation, the very least I could do was to have that glorious name called over me in Baptism as my profession of faith in Him...my testimony

Since I am in His church...and His church is the bride of Christ..I took on his name being married to him figuratively speaking.

I do not need the three persons called over me in baptism when it is all in Him.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

(Colossians 2:9)

I certainly don't have anything against Jesus name baptism, in fact I'm all for it.

It's relatively unimportant though.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Is the same as Isaiah 9:6

6 For unto us a child is born , unto us a son is given : and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor , The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

What name do you suppose fits Isaiahs prophecy?

Various translations call the "Comforter" the "Counselor" in John 14: RSV and NIV.

If the Holy Spirit is Wonderful that means he is the Wonderful Counselor. If he is the Wonderful Counselor he is Jesus.

Jesus is the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. This =The Christ.

There isn't a "Jesus name formula" in the NT. However, it appears that there was a "Jesus name invocation" at the moment of baptism. It would appear that water baptism marked the time of conversion in the early church. Thus repentance and baptism were seen as two parts of a single act...the turning from sin and to obedience to Christ. I've always found Paul's conversion provocative. Paul's conversion shows us something interesting:

Acts 22:14-17 (KJV)
14And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

It would appear that Annanias didn't baptize Paul using a "formula". But rather Annanias admonished Paul to literally call on the name of the Lord at the moment of water baptism. This act washed away Paul's sins. Thus "Jesus name baptism" appears to be less of a formula and more like a prayer of repentance, and baptism an affirmation of faith in Christ Jesus.

Our modern "altar calls" seem to separate repentance from water baptism. But in the early church this doesn't appear to be so. One might begin to believe in Christ after hearing a testimony regarding Jesus... but the moment of conversion was marked as a formal repentance and water baptism while calling upon Christ's name for forgiveness.

That is utter nonsence Hoovie. Not only do we have scripture that clearly indicates how the early church baptizes, but we have the record of the catholic church!

Even the Catholic Church agrees that before at least 200AD EVERYONE bapitzed in the Name of Jesus. Even the trinitarians agree with that.
