Do ministers have to wear suits to church?

It has been my experience that if ministers don't wear suits and ties to church, they are labeled as "liberal"?

Is this the case anywhere else? If so, why?

IMO, the reason for this being labled "liberal" is because it is more progressive. It seems if anything is thought to be progressive, it is liberal. Or so it seems to me. Generally speaking, anything new or different, has to be wrong. Or that seems to be the mindset of some. Not mine, but some.

I would agree with you Dizzy...

Why can't we be progressive and still balanced?

MissBrattified 01-18-2008 03:24 PM

Uh...no.

I like (personally) for myself & especially Ministers to wear a suit to Church.
Wearing a Suit speaks to me of respect & professionalism.

Wearing anything less, while not being sin speaks also of treating the house of God, His Kingdom, & the work of God in general with a "casual" treatment.

I must be old school!!:hypercoffee

I respectfully disagree on both reasons.

So are you saying that if they wear a suit they're legalists?

How about if they wear a suit, could it mean they are better dressed than you? :ouch

Brother Ron it's the new image to look like you just got shot out of a canon, or laid back like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood (sweater with a zipper :vomit)
