Apostolic Friends Forum - Please pray for Kate...she has a brain tumor

My friend Staci has asked for prayers for this request. This child is the daughter of a friend of hers.

This is the message she posted - which came from a message sent by Kate's mother (slightly edited for clarity)

Well we took Kate to Vanderbilt today to go over her MRI with the Pediatric Neuro Surgeon. We did not get the news we wanted, but it seems like Katelyn's snowmobile crash was a blessing.

Kate has a tumor in the lower left part of her brain.

She goes in for surgery next Tuesday to have it removed. They are talking about 6-9 hrs of surgery. She will be in the hospital for 4 days or so and out of school for 2 weeks or so after that. This is pretty scary. She will be on meds and need more MRI's.

We spent almost a year in the hosp. with our son Jay and in a way having gone through something like this before is making it more stressful and scary, the thought of loosing two of my kids is more than I can bare to think about.
The doctor did say it is not genetic or environmental, but just one of those things. It seems to him it has been growing for about 3 yrs.

It was so weird to see her brain and what the tumor looks like and what it has done to her skull and stuff. Ya know you just hear tumor and it makes your heart skip a beat or two. Their are risks involved, but they are worse if we do not get it out.
