Has Christianity Failed ?

When compared to The Book Of Acts church has those that profess to be followers of Christ failed to make a difference in our world ?
Has Christianity in general today failed to make to an imprint on our world ?
Seriously I don't know why but such questions run through my mind.
Has modern day so-called Christianity failed in comparision to the Book Of Acts ?

I think there are FAR more people being saved today then during the book of Acts for a given period, except as a % of the worlds population, it is smaller.

Re: Has Christianity Failed ?

I won't say Christinaity has failed, but denominationalism sure has. And, one of the chief reasons for this failure is found in Jesus' prayer: Jhn 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

We are not one in Christ. The worlds Christian denominations have built high fences, and doctrinaly, those that claim Chritainity run in every direction. Thats true for the Apostolic faith as well. Until we begin to really look into the "one in Christ" thing, and realize it doen't happen organizationally or even doctrinally, but spiritually, we will be nothing more than voices in the wind.

In a word, yes.

Will this change in the future? I'm believing God that it will.
But for now, unfortunately we're nowhere near where we're supposed to be.

Thats the whole point. After almost 2,000 years, the percentage should be a lot higher than it is.

As long as the churches have a penny march for missions the church has failed...In reality if Christ is not everything to us He is nothing to us...

Re: Has Christianity Failed ?

I speak only from the viewpoint of a missionary (independent) ...I feel almost like running and hiding when I go to churches and they call me up and say, " now let’s everyone stand and bring something to Sister Alvear...and if you don´t have anything shake her hand..."

I deeply appreciate every cent that comes in but to treat missionaries like they are beggars produces people that may feel sorry for the missionary but have no idea what the missionary represents.

Should we not be willing and desirous to enter a covenant relationship with God for the sake of this generation?

That's a very penetrating question. I love it, actually.

The answer is simply, yes. But that entails sacrifice, which unfortunately, many of God's people have not been willing to give.
