I wish I could be there, I'm not a huge Avalon fan, but I think Michael English is touring with them right now and I love him.

No, I haven't yet, but I intend to. I have been a fan from the beginning, and it has been a very rocky ride, as I'm sure you know.

IMO, he is a text book example of someone who was taught how to go through the motions, but never really got an experience. Obviously in different church circles, but I think the analogy still applies.

Two of Avalon's members are members of my church and one is a board member.

Yup. They have kept a low profile for a long time but over the past year they have sung a few times.

Over the Christmas holiday's they sang one Sunday at church in lieu of the choir.

Natalie Grant (2006 & 2007 Dove Award Winner for Female Vocalist of the Year) is also a church member and helps with the Youth Choir and once or twice a year sings specials or as a praise singer.

You are at Christ Church right? I was in Nashville about 10 years ago and really wanted to visit that church but time didn't permit. I know that a lot of Christian artists have gone there through the years, as well as a few country artists.

I really enjoy Greg Long, Avalon is a little generic for my tastes but they are good. It must be nice to have that much talent in your church!

I like them. I saw them a few years ago in concert and they did a really good job. I like Michael too.

The funny thing is that 99% of the time the talent that calls our church home do not sing at church. I think it is a haven for those who travel so much to be able to just sit in church on the rare weekend they are home.

Several years ago Pastor Hardwick heard Natalie Grant on the radio or somewhere and mentioned to one of the Assoicate Pastors that CC needed to have her come sing sometime. They laughed and told him that she was a member. He did not even know.

I hope you get a chance to visit CC sometime in the future. If you do PM me and I can meet you in the coffee shop before service and give you a quick tour if you have time.
