Here is an interesting story about Gift Cards & what happens when the company
gets into trouble.

Stats say Americans have almost 8 Billion in unused Gift Cards out there.

This happened to us with a giftcard that I bought Jon a couple of years ago. The company went out of business before he used it so we just had a piece of plastic....

Yep. It was a hunting store and he was looking forward to using it. It made me mad that I had spent the money for nothing.

in or out of business....
a lot of these cards have surprising short 'active' periods....many are 2 years or less, some are 12 months.

That seems to be the norm up here!

Thing is in Canada, if customers don't redeem them it is free cash for the companies!
