A Cool Thing Happened Yesterday!
Don't you love it when it seems like God is looking out for you and makes some cool, unexpected things happen in your life every once in awhile?
One of those times happened to me yesterday. I had not realized that the NRB (National Religous Broadcasters) convention was going on in Nashville this past weekend and the next couple of days until Pianoman posted something about it on here. Years ago when I was producing and directing a church program that was nationally telecast I attended each year and really enjoyed it. The last time I had gone was coincidently here in Nashville five months before we moved to Nashville way back in 1999. Because I have decided to start a Wedding Videography business on the side and I am deciding between several professional camera models to purchase I wanted to visit the NRB exhibit hall where Sony Professoinal, JVC and Panasonic would all have factory booths. I knew that I could probably do a google search and find a company sponsering free admission to the Exhibit Hall and I did. I printed out the form and filled it out to take with me. I would have loved to have gone to the NRB as an attendee but it cost around $495.00 to do that and have access to the meetings, classes, entertainment, services, etc. After church Sunday I drove to the Opryalnd Hotel where the 135,000 sq. feet of exhibits was and had a great time looking around until 3:30 pm. Where else but the NRB could you see a Jewish guy with his little cap on running around on a Segway and a priest and nun in full black habit checking out a booth! LOL!!! As I got ready to leave I looked down at my lanyard / pass (they had taken my printed out form and processed it in a computer and then issued me the credentials) and instead of it being an "Exhibit Only" one it was the full fledged "Attendee" one. I was surprised and didn't think much about it at first. Then as I was leaving to go to my car the thought crossed my mind that I ought to look at the conference guide to see if there were any classes or events I might want to attend before leaving. Some of you may recall some time back me posting about watching a low budget Christian film that a big Baptist church in Albany GA had made a few years ago called "Fywheel". It was extremely low budget but an excellent script and production values for what they had to work with. This group went on to produce a very successful second film with a bigger budget called "Facing Giants" and is now about to release a third film. For many years now I have had a great interest in producing high quality Christian films aimed at the children / teen market. Entertaining stories that would have moral lessons involving Christian values. Not exaxtly what these guys are doing as their films are aimed at adults but the process of making them is the same. Anyway I pull open the booklet at 3:30 pm and see to my surprise that at 3:45 pm one of the two brothers who wrote, produced, edited, and starred in Flywheel is giving a seminar on Christian Filmmaking!!!! I was able to attend this class and was greatly blessed and inspired by the 1 1/2 hours I spent there. This has gotten very long so I won't post more now but perhaps more later because in addition to the nuts and bolts of filmmaking this guy had some great things to say. I would have been so disappointed if later I had found out this man had been in my town speaking about his experience making Christian films and I could not have gone. I don't think my "attendee" badge was a mistake at all. I think God was looking out for me and directed my path. Hallelujah!!! |

Re: A Cool Thing Happened Yesterday!
Sounds like were blessed CC1...and that someday you may be a great blessing in the lives of some who may be changed by the message...a message you bring thru video media.
One of the most life changing moments in my Pentecostal life happened many years ago. I was in a NO TV church. The pastor decided to show a film. The message in that film, and a song that the main character sang, "I have decided to follow Jesus" moved me deeper than any sermon I'd ever heard on the same topic ever had. |
