" I Am Number One "
:tiphat I have finally made it ! :slaphappy According to a rash of e-mails that I have received today :happydance I Now Have The Honor Of Being Placed On IGNORE :friend By More People Than Anyone else ever on this forum ! :igotit For This Esteemed Honor I Thank Thee :grampa For those of you that found my posts offensive I Forgive You :aaa For Those Of You That Think I Only Bash The UPC I Have Turned The Other Cheek :nah Today's events have rminded me of a job {in an Oil Refinery} that I had in my youth - I Feel Another Story A Comming On - - - - - You See We had a SPILL of Heavy Crude Oil in the South Tank Field. The heavy crude oil had seeped out of the huge tanks but the oil spill had been contained by the dikes that surrounded each tank in the Tank Field. They located and repaired the leaks in 2 of the tanks. They then pumped as much of the oil as possible back into the tanks. Mike Havlicek {our Foreman} selected 10 men, then he seperated them into 2 crews {A & B Crews}. I had the priviledge of being in charge of the 'B' Crew. We were issued Rubber Boots, Rubber Gloves, Shovels and Wheel Barrows. A Load of Sand was dumped on each of the Tank Dikes and a Dumpster with a ramp, was placed on the outside of the dikes. We were instructed to scoop up the remaining Heavy Crude Oil, place it in the Wheelbarrows, wheel the remainents up the ramp and dump it in the dumpster. When this job was completed, we were then to spread fresh sand over the ground where the Heavy Crude Oil Had Been. I was real thankful for the cool overcast weather that day because the 'B' Crew worked very hard . It took us about 8 hours to clean up the mess created by that one oil spill. I well remember getting Chewed Out By Mike Havlicek Because the 'A' Crew Had Cleaned Up Their Mess In Less Than 3 Hours ! HOWEVER JUST THREE DAYS LATER THE THERMOMETER WAS 102' when Mike Havlichek came by to check for any more Leaks. The Fresh Sand Gleamed Around The Tank Where 'B' Crew Had Worked So Hard For 8 Hours _ BUT When He Got To The Tank Where The "A" CREW Had Done Such A Good Job HE WAS F L A B B E R G A S T E D Because The Heavy Crude Oil Was Poking Its Ugly Head Out Of The Sand ALL OVER THE PLACE ! You See Instead Of Exposing And Getting Rid Of The Heavy Crude Oil They Just Covered It Over By Heavily Spreading The Truck Load Of Sand Over The Top Of The Spilled Crude ! My What A Mess It Took Us TWO Weeks To Clean It Up ! Thinking of that really makes me know That WHEN THE HEAT GETS TURNED UP COVERED SIN WILL POKE OUT IT'S UGLY HEAD EVERY TIME ! :grampa JMHO Bishop1 |
