I use to be a great admirer of Jakes. nothing anyone would say would sway me. but no more! the things I've heard and read the last 2 years and RECENTLY has changed that . |
Re: Mega Church Pastor Praises The Obama Nominatio
I dont disagree with what I read i dont know if it was all he said.
if he endorses Obama I will disagree, but EVERY election is a victory for democracy. the fact that a black guy has won the nomination is a good thing for America. Now if he gets elected.... because of his political views, i think it would be bad for america. |
Re: Mega Church Pastor Praises The Obama Nominatio
I am just surprised considering the separation of Church and state that they can do that.
In Canada a Church endorsing a candidate is in danger of losing thier Tax exempt status as a Charity. |
Re: Mega Church Pastor Praises The Obama Nominatio
This is par for Jakes lately and it doesnt surprise me... he gets lower and lower every time.. He might as well just claim Obamas pastor is his best friend too...

I love T.D. Jakes and full well understand the pride that all African Americans must have at the first nomination of a black (well, ok half black!) man for President of a major political party.
I do wish he would have the fortitude to then not support him based on his policies and views. |
Re: Mega Church Pastor Praises The Obama Nominatio
Did any of you actually read the commentary Jakes made? He didn't endorse Obama. He was speaking as a black man in America of how proud he is that someone of his color has made it this far, given the history America has with slavery and the civil rights movement. He was speaking in terms of this nomination giving hope to other African Americans, specificially his son, that they too could some day reach their full potential, in spite of our history with slavery, the civil rights movement, and slavery.

Re: Mega Church Pastor Praises The Obama Nominatio
Anyone who does this and is a preacher right now is taking everything at a great risk considering all the other pastors who have backed Osama!
Then we have Oprah saying... "I am just following my own truth and my truth has led me to Obama... and everyone knows where her truth is right now... and yet these pastors want to back him too! Sad... |
