Video of Gruesome Hit-and-Run Released by Connecticut Police

HARTFORD, Conn. — A 78-year-old man is tossed like a rag doll by a hit-and-run driver and lies motionless on a busy city street as car after car goes by. Pedestrians gawk but appear to do nothing. One driver stops briefly but then pulls back into traffic. A man on a scooter slowly circles the victim before zipping away.

Here is the video from Fox News : video

I can not believe the lack of concern by the people who viewed the accident. UNBELIEVABLE!

It's horrible! Fox interviewed the man's son, and he said he couldn't stand to watch the video of his dad.

People are just standing around-it's kind of sick to me.

Unbelievable!! And I can say that it is despicable because I have been involved in similar situation.

When I was 16, my boyfriend and I were coming home from a birthday party (he was driving my car, I was in the passenger seat) and we hit an elderly man.

Well, technically he hit us, he ran out from the side of the street and hit the side of my car, busted the front window and flipped up over the roof of my car and bounced down the back. It was one of the most horrifying experiences!

He just lay there in the middle of the street, I thought he was dead. We immediately stopped the car and went to him. He was alive but his leg was broken in several places, we stayed with him until the ambulance came, and of course for the police interview.

I can't imagine what it would take for a person to just keep on driving.

This happened to a friend's father. He was hit on his motor scooter and the driver ran off. He was then hit 2 more times. The last car stopped. Unfortunately he didn't live. He was a very caring and giving man.

Wow! That was one awful accident, you could have been seriously injured yourself.

It's like that common care and concern toward someone in an emergency situation is like gone, I mean it seems to be vacant in that area of the country. God forbid if someone had to rely on the goodness of a stranger in that town, no one cares!

Oh you were such a good kid to stay with that man I am sure his family appreciated it.

Just a total disgard for another human being, so totally sad.

Well, that's just it, it never even occurred to us not to stop, it was instinct. I just can't imagine what has to go on in a persons life to make them that insensitive or uncaring.

I wonder if it is things that have gone on in that town, or what, that has conditioned people that way? I don't think something like that would happen here, we just had a wreck here the other day where a teenage girl ran a red light and hit a motorcycle rider. It killed the man on the motorcycle, but there were people trying to give him CPR before the ambulance got there.

One of the worst things I have heard of here happened a few years ago, an elderly women got rear-ended around Christmas time, and presents were falling out of the back of her car. While she was waiting for the police to arrive, people were stopping and grabbing the presents and taking off!!

It probably broke that woman's heart to have that happen. Many elderly people are on a fixed income. Makes me sad and mad,the funny thing is, people like that never get a head, things don't go right in their life. I truly believe what goes around comes around.

But it's true! What most of us wouldnt think twice to do, is now hard to find.

I saw that video yesterday and couldn't believe that people were just driving by and watching from the sidewalk. I'd have run out there to assist him immediately!!

What goes around, comes around.
