How do you pray?

For most of my years in the church, when I pray for something or someone, I usually ask for God's will in their (or my) lives. Is this how you pray or do you mostly get specific and ask for God to do it. Do you worry that you are asking for something specifically that God didn't intend to happen? Would God possibly do what you ask and let you find out down the road you erred in asking for it outright? I'd like to hear some opinions from you bible scholars.

I'm not a Bible Scholar, but I found that since I'm not God it is better to ask Him how he wants me to pray for the situation or the person. I ask Him, "What do you want me to say. How do you want me to pray for or about this?" He then gives me the words.

I pray "Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven". There are many things that I did pray for in the past, that I am now thankful were not given to me. There is no telling what kind of nut I would be married to, what kind of house and car I would be in that was so far over my head I would not be able to sleep at night. There might have actually been a few people to drop dead. :)

I don't think it is wrong to voice our own desires to God - not at all - I think He desires that of us.

However, I think by far the most important component of any and all prayers is "Nevertheless, not mine, but thy will be done".

If one has difficulty in saying/praying this then they should examine their motives and their commitment to a sovereign God.

I simply pray for wisdom.

Lord help me or the person I am praying with to trust.

I pray that the Lord brings to our minds the path to take.

Then I personally reach out to help others.

In helping others I find the Lord then works things out.

That is the Law of sowing and reaping.

Not an offering for a miracle or prosperity.

When it comes to praying for others, I try to be as specific as possible. When it comes to praying for others or myself, there are times when I really don't know what to pray so I ask God to help me, and then He does. But when I know what to pray, that's what I pray, saying, "God let your will be done" but really hoping that His will and my will match.

Pray as already stated for HIS will to be done...that is the most important thing...
