Cell Phones Circa 1985
 

I heard on talk radio this morning somebody mentioning that they bought the first cell phones in Canada in 1985 and they cost $5,000 bucks!!!
Does anyone remember that they were big and bulky & looked like you could call in air strikes with it?

I was too young to have one of those!!! :bigbaby Hehee. However I remember my brothers girlfriend (at the time) having one!

I used to sell those beasts when I worked at Sears in the early 90's. Sold bag phones as well.

LOL - - yes, we had one of those too!

When you'd go out to eat you had to sit it in the middle of the table it was so big!

My hubby's first cell phone was larger than our land line phone is now! LOL My how technology has changed!

I loved my bag phone! Believe it or not, almost no droped calls and almost no cutting out.

I had that exact one!

The nice thing about bag phones is that they operated at a full 3 watts verses the .6 that the hand held's use. Obviously they were better for the boonies. But.... they were only analog.
