British Columbia Turns 150 Years Old In 2008!
B.C. is 150 this year!
2008 marks a very special anniversary in British Columbia: 150 years of cultural diversity, community strength and widespread achievement since the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858. On November 19, 1858, the new colony’s governor, Sir James Douglas, read the official proclamation that cemented one of the most significant events in B.C.’s history. Arguably, if it hadn’t been for that moment, Canada may not have extended from coast to coast and B.C. might not be the strong, vibrant, united province that it is today. http://www.bc150.gov.bc.ca/bc150.aspx?page=home In this thread I will post a few things about BC & Vancouver. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1Jc0JFCLUA This is Queen Elizabeth Park. We had our wedding pics taken here. It is the highest point in the actual City of Vancouver, a nice view and only 10 minutes from my house. |

You may recognize the fellow here, it is Lord Stanley of Stanley Cup fame.
He donated the 1,000 acre Stanley Park to be enjoyed in perpetuity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eogw...eature=related |
