Why did John have to give his head?

Why did John have to give his head?

If John had stayed within his call to preach repent for the kingdom of heavan is at hand, and to prepare ye the way of the Lord would he have to give his head? Instead, he went back to preaching law; he spoke to a Romans--living under Roman law--and condemned according to Jewish/Mosaic law. Why? Did his legalist preaching ultimately cost him his own head?

Any parallels to our own experience we can draw?

Definately, he was the greatest prophet. And the "friend of the bridegroom" therefore the "best man" at the wedding of the bride and bridegroom. I am just asking, Is it possible that he spoke legalistic. Or term it another way if you prefer, "out of turn." Is it possible that on that one day that he spoke something that was outside of his calling and message and it cost him his life?

Now you are really sparking my interest.

I have had this type discussion with others before,

Jesus did say, "was not so from the beginning." When was the beginning? What are these "laws of God" that you speak of? Law requires a priest? What priest? What sacrifice? What covenant? Man you are the one who "jumped right in." This opens up areas that few are willing to delve into because it requires thinking out of the box and some speculation, only because the scriptures only hint at what you refer to.

This gets into time discussions and scriptures like, "in the beginnig was the Word..." and "from the foundation of the world" and "In the beginning God said...."

The laws that God gave to Israel (the moral law - the ten commandments) stands forever.

The laws that God gave to Israel through Moses have been done away with.

Done away with or fulfilled?

Fulfilled is a better word.
