~Simon the Sorcerer & One-Steppers~
Acts 8
5) Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 12) But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13) Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. It's disturbing that Simon the Sorcerer (witch) understood salvation, yet a one-stepper can't comprehend it. Perhaps they would understand if they converted to a wicca? :snapout The scripture reads Simon preached "Jesus" and "things concerning the kingdom of God", and then the crowds and Simon were baptized. Water baptism is always accompanied when preaching "Jesus" and "things concerning the kingdom of God", just as it was plainly illustrated by Philip in Samaria. kinda strange you one-steppers don't see baptism equally important as repentance. If baptism is qualified as "a thing" concerning the kingdom, and part of preaching "Jesus", you're two steps near salvation. So much for just believing after repentance that you're saved! What a bunch of hogwash! If you're preaching the same gospel Philip preached, Jesus name water baptism is always mandatory after the those hearing have believed. |

Oh boy ... more ... you believe baptism is optional hogwash ...
The pattern is clear .... in Acts believers were baptized. This type of posting is disingenuous. Discussing things of the Kingdom include loving your neighbor but doing so doesnt cause salvation. Try again. |

Another similar occurence......but it gets even better. This is a must read for all one-steppers 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36) And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37) And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38) And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39) And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Philip attached himself to the eunuch preached Jesus. The euunuch then states what does hinder me from being baptized? Of course eunuch learned about baptism while preaching Jesus.....but wait...it gets better.... Notice what Philip tells the Eunuch "If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest." Philip told the Eunuch ONLY IF YOU BELIEVE WITH ALL YOUR HEART you can get baptized. Well one-steppers, there goes your theology out the window. If you believe with all your heart, you must be baptized. Just believing wasn't enough! |
