Gospel singer Marvin Sapp's 'Never Would Have Made It' a record-breaking phenomenon

NEW YORK (AP) _ Marvin Sapp's single "Never Would Have Made It" is a record-breaking phenomenon far beyond the world of gospel.

The track from his seventh album, "Thirsty," is in its 42nd week at No. 1 on Billboard's gospel radio charts. It is a crossover success with its perch at No. 1 on the urban adult contemporary chart, and has become the longest running No. 1 single at radio across all genres in the history of Billboard analysis.

I hear you. It's a nice song. I liked it from the very first time I heard it, but I guess I was a bit surprised to see how much of a hit the song has become.

Of all the ones I've heard (hundreds?), I'd probably put it in my top 20 or so.

Without a doubt, though, its one of the most successful gospel records released. So I'm happy for he brother, especially with him being Apostolic. I like to see when "one of ours" is sucessful.
