Was Rosa Parks a member of Greater Grace?

I discovered Greater Grace Apostolic Church in Detroit on youtube,

Have to say that Bishop David Ellis was ONE anointed man! Could listen to his old time songs for hours! In fact I will start a thread for those in a moment,

BUT In reading about the church I saw they had Rosa Parks funeral there when she died, And was just wondering was she a member there or did they just host it?

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated!

If you do notice my profile, you'll see that I'm from Detroit. Apostolics (read: Pentecostal Assemblies of the World) are a "major player" in the Pentecostal Ballgame, and Greater Grace Temple is the church for ALL Apostolics in the area -- and it's HUGE!

Sister Parks attended Greater Grace Temple. (If you notice any news stories about her, you'll notice that she never wore 'slacks' nor cut her hair).

The 'average' OP (Oneness Pentecostal) doesn't really seem to know that many famous people and 'movers & shakers' of Modern Times are/are Apostolic people.

You know its funny but in all the pictures of Miss Parks, she always did convey the air of a very humble but noble daughter of the King! I am bit Surprised and at the same time NOT surprised to find out she was Apostolic!

You are indeed blessed to go to such a tremendous church! I envy you!!!!!

Thanks for the information!

Can you give us the names of a few of those famous people?

A few that come to my mind immediately (Although they certainly do not appear apostolic and may well have rejected their faith either currently or before their deaths are...
Toni Braxton, Marvin Gaye, Grace Jones, M.C. Hammer, and the late Bernie Mac.

Any others? Oh I remember another who was being claimed as the Son of Apostolics the hispanic comedian Paul Rodriguez as well as country singer Freddy Fender was supposedly a convert to the APostolic Faith (Apostolic Assemblies) but never heard too much more about it...

OH AND OF COURSE!!!! How could I have forgotten, GEORGE FOREMAN.

Plus there are two rock groups out there now comprised of kids who grew up in the church and have left their faith, making an open mockery of it, One is called oddly enough "Because of the Times" they took their name from the conference that Brother Manguns church hosts.

OH AND IS HE OR ISN'T HE?????????? BORAT!

(Just kidding...for what Sascha Cohen paid to film at the Mississipi Camp Meeting he oughta get some kind of attribution!)

Any others. The Elvis Presley connection seems a little too tenous for me, I DO believe that somewhere along the way in his teens that he may very well have been baptized in Jesus Name, but as far as continuing on for ANY length of time to count him as BEING an Apostolic I am not sure.

Then of course you have the country and music crowd who may or may not be apostolic The Judds, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Mickey Gilley, OH YEAH JERRY LEE LEWIS! Forgot about him. ( Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley and Jimmy Swaggart are all cousins, and the Lewis branch was oneness the swaggart trinity and there is a little confusion to me about the Gilleys.)

Eric Clapton married an Apostolic woman at one time.

Tyscott Records was formed by two Apostolic businessmen.

Mahalia Jackson was Apostolic.

Medgar Evers spoke at an Apostolic church the night before he was assassinated.

Jim Baker was baptized in Jesus Name, but never a Oneness Believer.

An 80's Gospel artist named Calvin Bridges is Apostolic.

The Winans Family have Apostolic roots.

If Carlton Pearson was Apostolic in the beginning, so was Carman, maybe. Carlton Pearson was his Pastor for about 12 years.

I have the book "Swaggart", a detailed biography of Jimmy Swaggart. From the book it is clear that Swaggart and his relatives were Assemblies of God. I've seen nothing anywhere to indicate any of them were Onenesss.

Carlton Pearson was COGIC originally, not Apostolic, and got filled in a COGIC church at age 6.

I thought Carlton Pearson was Apostolic? At least, that is what I have been told repeatedly-- he WAS Apostolic.

Why on earth did Sis. Mickey Mangun record that song with him, associated her name with him, if he wasn't Apostolic, before he started preaching error?

No way. Ne never was.
He was raised COGIC, then went independent.

Bishop Pearson attended Oral Roberts University, and was mentored by Oral Roberts. He was licensed and ordained in the Church of God in Christ.[2] Pearson formed his own church, Higher Dimensions, which became one of the largest in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. During the 1990s it grew to an attendance of over 5,000 and in 1997 Pearson was ordained a bishop.
