Share information on colleges here. I need help!
 

My daughter is a freshman in HS this year, but it already seeking out colleges. However, I am out of the loop, and she doesn't have a clue as to what to look for either, but we want to get the ball rolling.

She is wanting to get no less than a Masters Degree in some kind of science, so getting into a science-oriented college is what she's looking for.

How do I find out info about what colleges are science oriented without calling them all or looking them all up online?

In addition, she doesn't want to take PE, but it's a requirement for most colleges.

She's also going to be getting several scholarship offers, and when that time comes, we might need more help!

She is going to be involved in other things, like volunteer work and school clubs to help with getting scholarships.

Any other advice or information would be appreciated.

There are other options for her PE credits. I took golf.

So far the only website I've seen that's seemed thorough all around is http://studentaid2.ed.gov/gotocollege/collegefinder/. Since it's a .gov, it should also be pretty reliable.

Her only other option is marching band. She DEFINITELY doesn't want that....LOL!

She can get out of it if the college she wants to attend doesn't require it, but since we are depending on scholarships, she can't choose one right now.

My college required 4 credit hours of pe. Most of the active ones were only worth 1 credit, but they had one class that was a classroom setting worth 2 hours. I took it during the May-mester. Over in a snap. It was called Effective Living...sort of like a health class.

Talk to her Guidance Counselor at school- they may be able to direct you toward colleges/ universities and scholarships. Just an idea!
