Is TD Jakes Going Pro Gay?

Article

youtube clip of Jakes making controversial statements:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhukB...xual-theology/

His statement:

“Ruth turns to Naomi and says “I shall not leave thee.” She makes her statement to this woman…that sounds somewhat, somewhere in between poetry, intimacy, and borders on lesbianism. People don’t even know how to explain what Ruth said to Naomi. It makes them uncomfortable. They’re afraid to talk about it. They don’t want to teach on it. Same thing with David and Jonathan…where there were same-sex relationships getting too close, people don’t even know what to say.” (our italics)

Quote from article:

Its a sad and tragic thing that someone who has been proclaimed by the liberal media as the next Billy Graham is actually a false prophet with homosexual issues. The sad part is that deliverance is available to anyone who wants it. The tragic part is the hoax being perpetrated on millions of people in the church by Bishop TD Jakes.

New information alleges that Jakes is not just a false prophet who is repositioning himself as a defender of gay christian theology, but one who has attempted to draw other men into homosexual conduct with him.

In this audio (courtesy of Faith and Reason), Jakes can be heard giving credibility to the astonishing fallacy that Ruth and Naomi had a lesbian relationship. Why is TD Jakes advocating two of the favorite lies of the gay christian movement?

Any thoughts ?

If true, sad but not unexpected. Since there is no video and the audio is bad I can't say for sure that is him

I don't believe he made the statement "borders on lesbianism." in talking about the relationship between Ruth and Naomi! I believe he said "somewhere in between poetry, intimacy." And I don't believe he implied David and Jonathan had that kind of relationship either.

I watched the short clip at you tube and read the 78 comments posted. Seems from their comments T.D. Jakes has made some similar comments recently. :(

Very sad to hear this if it's true.

Just saw this. I actually got an email about this about a week ago showing all of the comments he has made recently concerning this and it does appear he is heading that way. Unfortunately but not really unexpectedl I have deleted the email but its been pretty popular being sent around all over the place so I am sure I will get it again in the next day or 2 and will post it as soon as I do. There is a clip on another site that is of this same message and much clearer audio... I will look for that in the morning when I get up.

WOW. Pure and simple...wow.

I know that a while back on this forum or another they posted that Bishop Jakes's son is openly gay and that may very well have something to do with it.

As to Ruth and Naomi, does Bishop Jakes forget that Naomi was Ruths MOTHER in Law and may very well have become really a MOTHER to her??? So now do we move OUT of the realm of just plain old lesbianism and into the realm of INCESTOUS LESBIANISM? wow.
Sorry to say this was not his first step away from righteousness, but rather when he buried the glorious truth of the Oneness of God and Acts 2:38 salvation in order to obtain a "wider" audience, he fell pray to the sin of Balaam. It didn't end well with Balaam hope it ends better with Bishop Jakes.

Re: Is TD Jakes Going Pro Gay?

In the context of Naomi and Ruth, we can clearly see it was simply the love of a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. There was nothing there "bordering on lesbianism". For him to even use the word lesbianism in this context is disgusting.

Doctrinally, this man seems to be on some kind of slippery slope. I've had doubts about this guy for years, but it seems like he's just getting worse and worse as time goes by. So now his position on the homosexuality is another interesting wrinkle. I remember when an interviewer on NPR asked him questions on the gay issue, and he bobbed and weaved like a politician:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=5376906
Commentator: You don’t stay out of the conversation necessarily when homosexuals are the issue.
Jakes: Uh, what makes you say that?
Commentator: Well uh, I’ve read that you consider homosexuality is a sin. So if you’re a practicing homosexual you’re not going to heaven.
Jakes: You know something, I don’t know anybody of any faith who can say that they have no sin in their lives. Whether it’s homosexuality or lying on your income tax or speaking rudely to somebody at a window. What we call sin may differ from person to person, but who amongst us can say that they have no sin? Jesus said that. And he said he that is without fault among you let him cast the first stone. I’m certainly not casting any particular stones at any particular group of people. All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God, but the question was about hell. And when it comes down to hell, that’s an issue that I believe in a way of salvation. I believe that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. That no man comes unto the Father saved but by him. But I’m not so dogmatic in my views, that I’m willing to condemn anybody and send them to hell, I leave that up to God.

On Bible salvation, he dodged again:

CALLER: I'm a Muslim here in Portland. I'm part of a Shiite community. And we had a wonderful interface dialogue last weekend with a local Unitarian church. And I'd like to ask you please to speak about concrete experiences you've had as far as interfaith dialogue goes. And also would like to ask you, do you feel that only Christians could hope to enter Heaven?

JAKES: Very great question. When it comes to interfaith experiences, I'm currently serving by the appointment of former President Bush and President Clinton, as co-chair of an interfaith advisory committee to help people get back up on their feet.

And we do have on the board Muslims, Catholics, a Jewish Rabbi, Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostals across the board. And we're working together very effectively because we all care about common goals. We have our distinct theologies and our own ideologies but there are common grounds that we can work together very effectively in many, many cases.

When it comes to Heaven, I try to leave that up to God. I certainly believe that Christianity is right, but when it comes down to the final test--who goes and who doesn't go--Jesus said, Other sheep have I who are not of this fold. Them also must I bring. I'll let Him identify who those sheep are and I stay out of the conversation.

I can't express how disappointing this is.

I've heard something just this week - I wont repeat w/o
the facts but if/when it comes out, it's going to be really bad.

the news media is going to have a field day on it!!
