Police departments in cities across the country are beefing up their ranks for Election Day, preparing for possible civil unrest and riots after the historic presidential contest.

Public safety officials said in interviews with The Hill that the election, which will end with either the nation’s first black president or its first female vice president, demanded a stronger police presence.

Civil unrest? who's going to cause civil unrest over Obama's victory?

Read the article.

Preparing in case he's defeated or there's accusations of voter fraud.

Some blacks will riot if they don't get there way. Years of oppression and prejudice bundled released over one major incident.

Kinda like Rodney King, it was years of perceieved and real injustices bottled up that caused the riots.

BTW those that would riot, I wonder if they even voted.

There are fools everywhere.

Sometimes riots start when a team WINS. Anger or drunken celebrations can end both ways. Rioting will only further unfortunately the negative charicacter that many Amricans have of Obama supporters either way. The end of election needs to be a time of uniting Americans not further compounding the great divide we are experiencing, no matter who wins or loses.

I personally, do not see rioting as a result of this election. However, to be honest, with some of the strong emotions I've seen even on the Republican side of things and what significance some of them are placing on an Obama Presidency, added security precaution is probably not a bad idea.

Added security precautions might be needed because of ....strong emotions on the Republican side , huh? (I guess Mr. Fair-and-balanced hasn't noticed all the strong emotions on the Democratic side of things.):snapout
