RCP's average of all of the national polls
 

proved true again. I know many people question the accuracy of polls and their effectiveness in telling us where the vote stands. Obama ended up with 53% to McCain's 46%. RCP had it pegged at 7.6%.

I like their method of taking all the polls and then averaging it out. It's proved itself over two Presidential elections now.

Also, they were within a 1.5% in Ohio, .1% in Virginia, and .7% in Florida.

Fordham University Researchers determined that the Rasmussen Poll was the most accurate out of 23 polling organizations. Along with the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism study from October 29 both were the only ones to perfectly predict Tuesday's outcome in their final polls. Both correctly forecasted a 52 to 46 percent win for Mr. Obama, but just two weeks ago Pew had Obama up by 14 points.

The least accurate were the CBS/New York Times Poll along with Newsweek, which has a long history of over-polling in favor of Democrats. Those polls gave Mr. Obama an 11 and 12 point margin of victory respectively. That was double the actual margin.
