Which proposal for the auto industry do you support more?

The federal government gives or loans the big three a $34 billion bailout to survive the immediate credit crisis.

The big three file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which allows them to reorganize their businesses with new management and restructure union contracts to become profitable again.

Someone in the comments section mentioned the need for rereading Atlas Shrugged.

The times we live in does make a person want to ask "Who is John Galt?"

Ayn Rand rejected socialism, but she also rejected religion and had weird ideas in regard to women. Who is John Galt in 2008?

If the big three fail....it will ripple through the economy. Part manufacturers will hurt, dealership software firms will hurt...it will be ugly. It's sad, but bailing out the big three will be better for the overall economy than letting them fail. That's my understanding.

Read the thread of the day.....Chapter 11 bankruptcy is not the end of the world and hopefully not the end of GM, Ford and Chrysler.

I disagree with you, so does President Bush and the majority of the U.S. Senate.

They will "make do" with 12 billion already allotted to them or they will be forced to restructure.

Maybe they will be forced to restructure anyway-- which is precisely the reason why they should not be bailed out. 34 billion may not even be "enough".
