Are you sure you're saved?

Someone recently commented about people who think they are saved, but aren't. Interesting concept! I suppose nearly every OP here thinks they are saved. And most everyone, I suppose, is pretty sure they're not in that boat with people who think they are but aren't. (You following this? ;)) I think it would be interesting to find out how many of you guys are absolutely 100% sure that you're saved.

Before you answer, consider the implications. First, you must be 100% sure that the source of your chosen method of being saved is correct. For you guys, that's the Bible, of course. You must be 100% sure that the Bible is God's word (at least the parts that tell you how to be saved). And that it has the correct method of salvation spelled out.

Further, you must be 100% sure that you understand it correctly. If some people disagree with your interpretation in a significant way, you're right and they are wrong. Obviously. And if those other guys are wrong, and they check "100% sure", well, that's their problem! :winkgrin

Then, of course, you must know beyond a shadow of doubt that you have followed its instructions well enough to be saved.

And that you haven't messed up bad enough that you have lost your salvation (as of now).

Speaking of which, let's just consider the present moment. As of right now, if you died, are you sure you'll make it to Heaven? (I might later ask you if you are 100% sure you will never lose your salvation, never ever ever! ;))

I wonder how the vote would go on, say, a Trinny forum. :hmmm

Okay, okay, I voted. I voted Other (please explain). Now..I will explain.

I hope I will be saved. I cannot say with certainty that I am saved for this reason: I cannot judge whether or not a person is saved. That includes myself.

Satisfied?

How can we have chosen method of being saved?

In the poll? Don't need to. The method doesn't matter -- just how sure you are that you know the correct one! :santathumb

80 views, 6 votes. Ya know, one might assume that a non-vote is the equivalent of "No idea! Never really thought of it that way, and I can't start now!".

I like this. Yes, I'm 100% sure I'm saved. Yes, I'm 100% sure I understand the Bible correct. Yes, I'm 100% sure a person can backslide and lose everything including their salvation, and God and end up in hell.
